If the Refs start doing this.......?

Post by troutputz » February 19th, 2011, 12:50 am

Wow, did anyone see the Louisville- UCONN game?
The student section was chanting a cheer, I couldn't make out what they were saying?
One of Lousiville's guards raised his right arm and started to motion in a circular, swinging fashing as they were cheering!
Next think you know the Ref called a Technical on the player!
Rick Pitino went nuts, he got a Technical!
The ref explained to Pitino and the player that the player was inciting and provoking the crowd!
I couldn't believe it myself?
All the guard did was get into the motion of the student chant and he got a T....

What's next? Maybe that is why Stew got mad at Walker because evidently the rules state that the players can't do the same cheers and chants that the students do....lame to me...We are screwed at the spectrum if the refs start calling stuff like that!

Damn, and I was hoping Tai would join in the winning team / losing team against Idaho.

I was watching that game and, according to the ref, the crowd was chanting something profane. The announcer said it was "Bull Manure, or some variant of that," and that color guy got a good chuckle from that. My guess is that they were actually saying "PUSH IT", but I digress. ;)

Anyway, it was the combination of the vulgar chant and the fact that the player was inciting the crowd to chant it that caused the ref to award the "T". Since we'll be "up by 30, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap" at the end of the Idaho game, I'm looking forward to Tai participating in spite of the potential for a technical foul. :) Go Aggies!
