I Miss the old board.

Post by CorinneAggie » February 18th, 2011, 6:12 pm

I don't know if people just talked more last year or what but this year the board has been pretty lame. Nothing really interesting to read most of the time. It seems like over on scout we got some better topics. I think it is pretty dumb on this board that when mods get tired of a thread they lock it. Isn't this board suppose to be open discussion if people want to keep talking about a subject it is up to them they don't have to look at the thread if they don't want to. Just because the mods don't like the topic why can't the rest of us talk about it. Oh well just my two cents. :bangwall:

Kind of agree with the thread locking. A little 'groupthink' goes on here sometimes.

You are welcome to start up a good conversation any time you want. As for locking threads goes, it doesn't happen very often. The two that were locked today were well past good conversation. Just my two cents.

I agree that interesting threads are few and far between these days, but I don't necessarily blame the mods. It really is a great site, with all sorts of cool features, and I'm glad a one stop all Aggie site was created. I just wonder if some of the people from Scout didn't cross over, or if all the MWC speculation exhausted everyone to the point that they don't post anymore.

I also wonder if many people have just been waiting for March since this season started, so there's a general sense of boredom on the board. We had a very experienced and talented team returning this year, and with a non-compelling OOC (other than BYU and Georgetown) plus a terrible WAC, there's just not much to talk about. We've talked about Tai, Tyler, and Pooh for 4 years now, and Jardine for 3. The topics of ticket prices, Scott Barnes, James Walker, attendance, scheduling, and at large status have all been beaten to death and from what I can tell no one has convinced anyone from any side to change their stance on those issues. This is a blue collar team with tough defense, not a lot of talking, and not very flashy. They just don't provide for much discussion I guess. It's been weird to come on the board after a win and see only 2 or 3 threads about the game. :headscratch:

I think some are a little weary from the conference expansion talk. That kept things very interesting for a while. The site has had its moments.

that is because we chat during the games, and there isn't a transcript to go through and discuss later

Exactly. I lost alot of message board enthusiasm after the MWC fiasco.

One of the locked threads was an accident when ProvoAggie really meant to lock the other one. The first one was unlocked.

The thread that I locked earlier had been dead for a very long time and someone decided to revive it by quoting several old threads and responding with a single smiley. To me that isn't discussion. We have tried to not moderate this board too much and have tried to keep it loser than Scout was. There were 2 threads locked today (3 if you count the one that I accidentally locked) but that was a rare occurrence. Threads are very rarely locked, edited or deleted. Often times when they are, it's after several complaints from non-moderating members of the forum. If you disagree with any moderation that's being done specifically then feel free to PM any or all of the mods and admins on the site and we can discuss it.

This site rocks! Thanks for the hard work. Join the chat during a game sometime and you will see why game discussion has becomes less prevalent here. The only thing I miss about the old site is all of the scheduling and Stew's a pussy threads.

:thanks: to 'lish, ProvoAggie, Tree and anyone else that contributes to the site. It is the best fan site for any team in any league at any level.

Being a moderator and or an Admin is a funny thing. People love ya or hate ya, but rarely appreciate ya. Or they love ya one thread, then hate ya the very next. I'm not asking for appreciation, as I do LITTLE moderating here, less than I did on Scout and have had MUCH less to do with if anything at all about how this site functions, looks, works and everything it has to offer. No, not looking for appreciation, but maybe a little realization???? A simple reminder to everyone....hours upon hours upon hours have gone into and continue to go into having this fansite available for us Utah State fans. It's an original fansite, dependent upon nobody like Scout for example. It offers tons of info at a one stop shop experience. The design is professional. Hundreds of suggestions from you, the reader, have been taken into consideration and added to this site to make it better. Now who here has ever sent Aglicious or ProvoAggie a single penny? Why not??? I guess because they don't even ask for it. If you miss the old board, guess what...it's still there. Go have some "good" conversations with yourself like the "good ol' days". and enjoy the fact that your one thread won't be locked. But we we'd rather you stay here and deal with a few things you don't like so you can enjoy the many things you do like about this place.

end of rant.

I don't miss it. Love all the info we can find on here (IE... Ticket on the bottom, news, tweets...etc). I went back to scout.com and yeah don't miss it. I think we miss some random fans being able to find us but not a huge deal really.

I think this site is miles better than the last. Admins can't control content and I can't believe that a site change would be what has caused some boring posts. I am much happier with these admins and the lack of micro-managing they have done. I can tell they would prefer a positive swing at all times, but they are much better than the scout admins who would ban people based mainly on emotional triggers. This site also has so many more features that I really appreciate, including the chat and news. Great job guys, thanks for giving Aggie fans like myself a place to get and share info.

Not missing anyone inparticular, just random people wanting to give a shout out or something. Like the dude that stopped in on scout to tell us Wild Bill was amazing. But I'm sure with time they'll find us. I'll take this site over scout any day.

Good call kofdog! People like RockeymoutainHigh something or other....the clemson fan. That guy was/is a stud. We did our best to direct people who go to Scout to know that this is where the gang is now. But by all means, if there are people missing that you know of.....get them to register here and get back in gear. The more discussion the better!!

I miss Stan. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have near as many douches here as we do now! :notworthy:

As for Archie....he shows at almost every single chat during the games. Remember, he is a busy busy man taking over the world.

Like we're not supposed to talk about certain things sometimes because someone's mother may be reading the posts. Things like that. Big Brother is watching us and all.

Anyway, I think it's a pretty neat site. Especially the custom programming, such as that on the first page, and with the schedules.

You could always throw in a few ads and make some cash on this site, then that way we're not 'using' you all.

Seems more like common sense than Big Brother to me, which is something that several posters seem to lack.

6 of the last 16 post on that threads directly stated that my argument was discounted because I was wrong about the way we Track attendance.

The game with Western Montana removed all doubt that my argument should have never been discounted.

Don't the mods have the right to shut threads down once everything's been achieved that could possibly be achieved in them? At some point threads break down, go down rabbit holes, or at very least start repeating themselves, with the same people saying the same things over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over again.

I really like this new board. To be honest though, I have no idea what it is that the moderators do or don't do, so you must be doing it right. Keep on Keeping on. I wonder if Scout.com cares that we don't use their board anymore

This is a pretty pathetic thread. People complaining about the content of this board is lame. Those who complain only have one or two things they want to talk about anyways. When people argue the other side they get mad. When people get sick of the argument and leave they get mad. The board is great.

I was reluctant to join here but I am glad I did.

The only thing I've really noticed and it's not a huge deal is maybe we get less fans from opposing teams. Which might actually be kind of nice when football season rolls around again and we have to play Fresno State.
