Reflecting on good times
Since Craig Smith came to USU, the Aggies (in six seasons) have only experienced double digit losses in 1 season - 2021-22.
This season - before we are halfway through December - there are already 9 teams with double digit losses. Some of those teams have loyal fans who have no hope of really making a mark this year (if ever).
It is really a good time to be an Aggie fan.

I like dogging on him for going to Utah, but he definitely left us in a good place.Aggie in Boise wrote: ↑December 11th, 2024, 5:31 pmWe certainly owe a lot to Craig.SectionBAggie wrote: ↑December 11th, 2024, 4:22 pmSince Craig Smith came to USU, the Aggies (in six seasons) have only experienced double digit losses in 1 season - 2021-22.

Re: Reflecting on good times
I really like Craig and it's been a great 6 years which all started with him. This job has been attractive to good coaches because of what Craig initially left them. I don't fault him for giving P5 (P4) ranks a try, but his time at Utah is showing that he was better here. If we keep losing coaches left and right because of success and he becomes available again then I wouldn't mind giving him another shot.flying_scotsman2.0 wrote: ↑December 11th, 2024, 6:12 pmAnd he has Utah wallowing in mediocrity. He would arguably have been worse by staying here too.
Sam and Neemi were gone, and his recruiting was not particularly inspiring.

I liked Craig but he needed help recruiting. Has he learned how to use time outs yet?cval wrote:He would arguably have been worse by staying here too.

Awesome to see the basketball program thrive. We have had good coaches but their is a special sauce within the Aggie program that elevates these coaches higher here.

I'll pass. Craig's best recruiter is coaching somewhere else.Aggiealum13 wrote: ↑December 11th, 2024, 7:48 pmI really like Craig and it's been a great 6 years which all started with him. I will second that ! Craig had three pro player two of which he inherited . And let’s be honest we lucked out getting Quetta . He was smart to take the payday I liked him but I think we are past Craig smith now .aggies22 wrote: ↑December 13th, 2024, 11:23 pmI'll pass. Re: Reflecting on good times
Make no mistake, we didn't "luck into" Neemias. Eric Peterson basically moved to Portugal for the summer and followed him around. Re: Reflecting on good times
Of course! I’m going to sample my new Merry Hootmas album. I’ve combined the Sugarhill Gang’s “Rappers Delight” to be the Aggie and Christmas themed “Aggie’s Delight”
Here’s a few bars as a tease:
(Big Blue)
“Check it out, I’m the B-I-G-B the L-U-E and the rest is fighting white.
I go by the code of the biggest of the blue and these reasons I’ll tell you why.
You see I’m six foot four and I’ve got two horns and I dress in a jersey. I got more poses than my cousin Moses and I dress so viciously.
Well so far you’ve heard my voice but I’ve brought my friend along. And next on the mic is my man Nick, come on Nick sing that song!”
(Santa)
“Everybody go, Da-sher, Dan-cer, Rudolph the red! Say if your elves start acting up, then they ain’t your friends!”
I won’t spoil the rest but needless to say you won’t want to miss it.
