I was fortunate to be at this game. There were these two guys in Patriots jerseys who just seemed to be there to have a good time and watch football, not cheer for any particular team.
Anyway, they had some funny loud rants about the apparent "Punt God" getting worked all game

That must be why the Chiefs decided to have him run out of the back of the end zone and take a safety instead of punt it on their last possession.

One thing ironic is that our first football game in the history of this site ended with us running out the clock by taking an intentional safety.EngineeringAggie wrote: ↑January 18th, 2025, 9:25 pmThat must be why the Chiefs decided to have him run out of the back of the end zone and take a safety instead of punt it on their last possession.

Why is that ironic?GameFAQSAggie wrote:One thing ironic is that our first football game in the history of this site ended with us running out the clock by taking an intentional safety.EngineeringAggie wrote: ↑January 18th, 2025, 9:25 pmThat must be why the Chiefs decided to have him run out of the back of the end zone and take a safety instead of punt it on their last possession.

Ironic: happening in the opposite way to what is expected, and typically causing wry amusement because of this.QuackAttackAggie wrote: ↑January 18th, 2025, 9:35 pmWhy is that ironic?GameFAQSAggie wrote:One thing ironic is that our first football game in the history of this site ended with us running out the clock by taking an intentional safety.EngineeringAggie wrote: ↑January 18th, 2025, 9:25 pmThat must be why the Chiefs decided to have him run out of the back of the end zone and take a safety instead of punt it on their last possession.

Coincidence: a remarkable concurrence of events or circumstances without apparent causal connection.
Of course language is as language does. But it would be ironic to lose the true meaning of irony in the doing.

The amount of energy necessary to refute bull pucky is an order of magnitude greater than to produce it.
