Who else still fondly remembers that day in 2007?

Post by GameFAQSAggie » November 1st, 2024, 5:08 pm

Alot of people look back on the 2000s as a sad time cause we lost and think it's too similar, but who else can still remember where you were at that November day we ended a 16 game losing streak with a win over New Mexico State? And the excitement that we weren't going to have to live with a winless season through the following winter. Who can remember hearing Craig Hislop's call of the game? Or who can remember, while not caring themself about even looking at the scores of our 0-10 team, other people talking about us winning a game. Or even someone just telling you cause you didn't check with the assumption we would lose.

And there last Saturday, along with the proceeding losing streak though it only reached 6 this time, there were flashbacks of that day, but thankfully, last Saturday was at least a similar end to the streak as that day in 2007, November 17 to be exact.

But the better way to look it is last Saturday was a better day to be a fan of the Aggies than it was to be a fan of half the college football teams, just like we whined in 2007 about it being tough being an Aggie fan, but that glorious November day in 2007 was a better day to be fan of the USU Aggies than it was be a fan of half the college football teams.

Nevertheless, with the portal, one bad season isn't the end of the world as much as it was back then.

I don't remember that, but I do remember a squeaker over Fresno State around then with a certain Freshman quarterback.

The aforementioned squeaker was the win that would be followed by 16 straight losses.

That was my freshman year, I remember it well. I sat shirtless through our loss to Utah in a snow storm that year.

Was this the game, where the team ironically dumped gatorade all over Brent Guy? It was hilarious how angry he was after a 1 win season, to be standing soaking wet in the cold November evening. He was pissed!!!

Alright GameFAQs you’re on.

I don’t remember this game. But I do remember the drubbing in Logan by Boise State the previous week, final score 52-0. The next year I took a date to the game against NMSU in Logan and we were up big and it looked like we might shut them out. I asked cha cha when the last time was that Utah State had a shutout during the game, and cha cha referenced the previous year’s game against Boise where USU was shutout… not exactly what I meant. But it was a moot point because that NMSU team ended up getting a a safety near the end of the game, final score 47-2.

I’m not as good as GameFAQs yet, because I don’t have an abstract story from church or something that vaguely relates to the NMSU game in 2007, but this is my best shot.

One thing I remember about the 2008 NMSU game was I know a guy that was pissed that we went for one last touchdown that game. I don't believe that guy posts here, but the guy's son posts here and would probably seeing in an email while on his mission about how pissed off he was we went for one last touchdown.
