Which is a better league:
Boise State (4-1 only Loss was close to #3 Oregon
Washington State (4-1 only loss was AT Boise)
Oregon State( 4-1 only loss was to #3 Oregon)
Fresno State(3-2 only losses were at Michigan, where they competed, and to UNLV, which wasn’t great)
Colorado State(2-3 not good)
San Diego State (2-3 not good)
Utah State( 1-4 not good )
Or
Texas Tech( lost to Washington State)
Iowa State-have played no one
Colorado-have played no one
West Virginia-record is fine but haven’t beaten anyone
Kansas State-decent but haven’t beaten anyone
Cincinnati-terrible
UCF-terrible
Houston-terrible
TCU-terrible
Oklahoma State-terrible
Baylor-terrible
Kansas-terrible
Personally I think Boise State is the best team out of these lists. Washington State would have an argument for the next spot. Iowa State, and Kansas state haven’t beaten anyone Texas Tech lost to Wazzu by blowout and it took OT to beat FCS Abiline Christian.
If you’re Utah, BYU, Arizona, and Arizona State why not go to the PAC12 if the money is close.(BYU is making 15 million a year And I believe the 3 others have a clause in their contract they can leave whenever they want)
Again, I know it’s not going to happen, Utah would fold before being in a conference with us, but the conferences are closer than most would like to think. And it’s a fun thought experiment.

Why is BYU making 15M/year? Last I heard Big12 teams were making somewhere around $34M/year from their TV deal

Boise State only proves that any podunk school out in the middle of nowhere with enough wealthy donors can buy you a good team. Organically? Not so much. No one is flocking to Boise to play football because of their rich history or stellar academics. They go there because the Alberton's of the world willed it upon them with nice facilities. Again, Boise State is the only game in town; of course, they have lots of fans, but they don't have two other huge Universities, a pro-basketball team and pro-hockey team, or a PRO-any team to contend with for viewers and fans.

According to KSL, they are making 18-19 million until 2025-2026 when the big 12 gets a new media contract. Then they will get an equal share.flying_scotsman2.0 wrote: ↑October 7th, 2024, 11:20 amWhy is BYU making 15M/year? Last I heard Big12 teams were making somewhere around $34M/year from their TV deal

So basically when those negotiations break down because the networks realize the Big 12 isn’t worth much more than the PAC schools my fairytale Scenario Will Happen?Mogy21 wrote: ↑October 7th, 2024, 11:26 amAccording to KSL, they are making 18-19 million until 2025-2026 when the big 12 gets a new media contract. That conference isn’t getting that kind of money on next negotiation. They lost most of the value with Oklahoma and Texas. The current football conference is fine but no power programBullnamed_gus wrote: ↑October 7th, 2024, 11:34 amSo basically when those negotiations break down because the networks realize the Big 12 isn’t worth much more than the PAC schools my fair taleMogy21 wrote: ↑October 7th, 2024, 11:26 amAccording to KSL, they are making 18-19 million until 2025-2026 when the big 12 gets a new media contract. Sure, it could happen - if football segregates itself into it's own thing and schools all go back to regional based conferences for their olympic sports. Which is what should happen.

The league with the major TV deal and the national exposure/respect and the auto bids to the playoff is the better league to be in.

Re: This will never happen, BUT hear me out:
The gap of the us being in the PAC narrowed the gap from the big 4 conferences.

I think some of us are smoking quality herbs. If the PAC gets 12-15M (I’m still skeptical, but if we get Memphis, maybe we are close…) then the Big12 is at least getting 30M. But I could be totally off base.

I'm not sure the Big 12 is worth $30M without Texas and Oklahoma. But it is still going to be worth far more than the PAC.flying_scotsman2.0 wrote: ↑October 7th, 2024, 2:15 pmI think some of us are smoking quality herbs. Re: This will never happen, BUT hear me out:
I’m pretty sure Boise State’s first Fiesta Bowl made more of a difference than fancy facilities and big donors. Creative play calling, excellent hires from within and the novelty of their blue turf built that program. At their peak, BSU might have been more popular in our own state than us. Instead of listing excuses, we should be looking at the creative ways they built a national brand. They may have all the resources now but they certainly didn’t have them when they built the foundation for success.
