Transfer windows shortened for Fall and Spring

Post by Aggie97 » October 8th, 2024, 9:16 pm

Transfer windowns were shortened but still have two different opportunities. Not sure how it was before, but the windows open the day after the football play-offs (fall) are announced and the day after Selection Sunday (spring).
====================
The D-I Council reduced the total number of days players in FBS and FCS can enter the transfer portal from 45 to 30 days but preserved the spring transfer window. They'll move forward with a 20-day winter transfer window from Dec. 9 -- the Monday after conference championship games -- through Dec. 28 and a 10-day spring window April 16-25.

A shorter transfer window will make literally no difference in stabilizing programs with unexpected exits late in the game.

I've already heard coaches compare the transfer portal to speed dating, offering guys over social media essentially and having them commit within the week. Guess that feeling will just intensify,

They needed to remove the spring window, but it hurt G5's way more so obviously they don't care that much.

The transfer portal opening after conference championships is wild. Imagine being a playoff team and some of your players coming to you asking for more NIL or they're entering the portal.

That happened last year anyway but still not ideal conditions.
