I don't understand why anyone thinks the Dakotas or the Montañas would be any better than Wyoming at the FBS level. Small population base, out of the way, small alumni bases, etc.

We won't need to be considering any of those schools.Mr. Sneelock wrote: ↑October 2nd, 2024, 2:35 pmI don't understand why anyone thinks the Dakotas or the Montañas would be any better than Wyoming at the FBS level. Small population base, out of the way, small alumni bases, etc.

Re: PAC 12 update
After adding Memphis and perhaps UTSA (hopefully Wichita State) we wont even remember who Wyoming is.

Re: PAC 12 update
The fee to jump from FBS to FCS is now $5MM, so even if a conference were considering adding, the FBS school would likely ask the conference to cover that. Otherwise, they'd stay put.Mr. Sneelock wrote: ↑October 2nd, 2024, 2:35 pmI don't understand why anyone thinks the Dakotas or the Montañas would be any better than Wyoming at the FBS level. There is a very realistic possibility that we could live in a world where Stanford and Cal play in the Atlantic Coast Conference and USF plays in the Pacific-12 conference.SLB wrote: ↑October 2nd, 2024, 1:39 pmUSF is on the west coast.LarryTheAggie wrote: ↑October 2nd, 2024, 1:36 pmMan, USF is so far away, i Guess that is worse for them than for us. For whatever it's worth, some of the Oregon St fans that have posted heavily about realignment are starting to send cryptic tweets.
Possibly Oregon St related, but I'm guessing they're hearing something...what is it and is it's true are the questions.

Re: PAC 12 update
My guess is we are going to be surprised here. Some lower level P4 conference schools knowing they will be left out of the next round of conference consolidation will look at the PAC12 now as way to secure their future. Think schools like Iowa State.

Re: PAC 12 update
And add Creighton while we’re at it
If we somehow poached those schools I’d laugh so
Incredibly hard.
It’s a huge long shot but if we can get the right escalators and get a Huge basketball only deal the PAC could be more attractive for a school like Arizona, Arizona State, Utah or ybu.
The football quality level isn’t THAT different.
Boise state/Washington State/Oregon State all would be in the top half of the Big 12. Boise probably could be a contender to win it.
The Big 12 media deal is. Criminally over valued. If the PAC can get a close deal with escalators it could work. Same level of conference without having to go to Orlando or West Virginia.

Unless the Big East folds though, no way Creighton is leaving any time soon.

If the Pac pulls lower level P4's (I sincerely doubt it), I'll be so glad USU got in when we did.

Big East does not have football, and the Big East is made of schools that are not near Creighton.

Re: PAC 12 update
Creighton doesn't have football either. And Creighton would be just as close to most of the PAC as it currently to the Big East. And have you seen the most recent Big East tv deal?? Absolutely zero shot. That's a pipe dream.SLB wrote: ↑October 2nd, 2024, 6:15 pmCreighton paired with Memphis makes sense.Bullnamed_gus wrote: ↑October 2nd, 2024, 6:06 pmAnd add Creighton while we’re at it

Re: PAC 12 update
The ACC-3 (Cal, Stanford, and SMU) is not in a good deal. It is possible that the PAC is working on landing Cal and Stanford with a media outlined deal and pending ACC case with Clemson and Florida State.

Re: PAC 12 update
They signed the ACC Grant of Rights. Only way they could get out is if they have some provisions allowing for an exit if/when Calford leaves.
That said, they'll go independent before they rejoin the PAC.

The thing that Cal and Stanford would like about the PAC is to have Oregon State and Washington State on the schedule then nonconference chances at scheduling Oregon, Washington, UCLA, and USC while getting paid.

Imagine if everyone but Wyo and UNM left for the PAC or AAC. So the MWC ads Tarleton State, Texas State, Sam Houston, NMSU, NAU, SD School of Mines, Minnesota Duluth, & NDSU.
Then Oregon State & Wazzu leave the PAC. Would we be interested in going back to the MWC?
Stanford would rather travel across the country to play Wake Forest & Duke because they would rather not be associated with the “educate everyone” schools like USU.
