We should have him on a list for coaches to consider for OC.

Coaches that are being fired that could bring in transfer portal players, recruiting, and overall upgrade the coaching staff. We need a whole new coaching staff.

The Aggies need to start lining up those interviews because all the losing schools are now firing all the coaches that they want to fire.

Can't overlook the transfer portal, recruiting, and already available side to it which is why he should be consideredLarryTheAggie wrote: ↑October 20th, 2024, 8:45 pmWhy would you look at Ludwigs offense and say to yourself, "I want me some of that!"SLB wrote: ↑October 20th, 2024, 8:27 pmWe should have him on a list for coaches to consider for OC.
Royals, Petras, Faison, White, and etc. are playing their final year.
There is a possibility that we could get Ludwig as some assistant offensive coach with Brad Kragthorpe being OC

So with the off-chance one of them shows up at USU, he can claim he was the first to mention them.

To be fair, the players I knew on the team at that time thought he sucked too... and after the SUU game. It was probably fair criticism.

He did suck. He's one of those guys whose career trajectory goes up and up and up while being completely mediocre. Obviously he has what it takes to be a good HC, but he was pretty solidly mediocre at everything leading up to it.LarryTheAggie wrote: ↑October 21st, 2024, 7:32 amTo be fair, the players I knew on the team at that time thought he sucked too... and after the SUU game. Re: What head coaches that you like for next season
It would be insane for OSU to fire Ryan Day, but they may if OSU doesn't beat Michigan. Or maybe my guy Cignetti can knock them out of the CFP hunt and they move on from Day. Frost is a far more obtainable than those 2. But he was a disaster at Nebraska.Hoot wrote: ↑October 21st, 2024, 7:42 amLincoln Riley might be free soon. Our list should consist primarily of good G5 head coaches and good P5 coordinators.

I would have bet so much money against that guy being a successful head coach. Glad it's worked out for him, but he was awful here.

Re: What head coaches that you like for next season
It just tells everyone that being HC is very different from being OC.
The Aggies running out of town because of the bubble screens probably helped him to become a better play caller.
I joked about the 2023 team being the perfect bubble screen team.

I can't thumbs up this enough times! The dude just keep falling upwards.....it's insane to me. I don't know if he just keeps finding himself in situations where there are other good coaches already in place or players that are committed to the program or what but I swear it has almost nothing to do with him.flying_scotsman2.0 wrote: ↑October 21st, 2024, 7:48 amHe did suck. His time in Logan was largely sitting around and collecting a paycheck (maybe partially paid by OU after getting canned?). I've read articles where Josh says his time at Utah State was some of his most enjoyable and was really the place that rebooted his career. He is still close to Matt Wells to this day.

Re: What head coaches that you like for next season
I’ll be honest was in high school that season and was not near as much of a diehard as I am now. So I didn’t even know he coached for us until one of my friends who’s a Vols fan told me haha
Apparently we offered him a spot as QB when he was playing at Weber too

Re: What head coaches that you like for next season
We did. He played for Dave Arslanian at Weber. After Arslanian took the USU job, Heupel transferred to Snow and was committed to follow Arslanian to USU. But then he had such a good season at Snow that Bob Stoops offered him a spot at Oklahoma.tovli wrote: ↑October 21st, 2024, 1:27 pmI’ll be honest was in high school that season and was not near as much of a diehard as I am now. Re: What head coaches that you like for next season
An under the radar coaching move, whoever is the next head coach should consider the former Rice head coach as OL coach.
He coached OL for Stanford 2011-2017, and he was an offensive assistant coach for the New York Jets (Jets went to the AFC championship game twice when he was there) before that.

Do I believe that Wells could do a good job in his 2nd stint with us?Aggiestyle wrote: ↑October 27th, 2024, 3:44 pmI vote for Matt Wells. Some of you my disagree but I am serious.
The answer is yes because the assistant coaches that he did well with are mostly available. Wells would have more resources with us going to the PAC. Wells unlike GA was our winning coach from 2013 to 2018 (6 seasons) then unsuccessful run at Texas Tech then has been an assistant coach in the Big 12 since then.
I do believe that we have basically an unlimited selection of coaches to pick from since we are going to the PAC.

I’m not advocating for or against Wells, but there were many factors resulting in GA’s failed second run here. I wouldn’t expect MW to have to deal with most of them.OrangeCountyAggie wrote: ↑October 27th, 2024, 4:20 pmThen you are simple minded. Re: What head coaches that you like for next season
I don't think GA 2.0 should be used as the example for how a Wells 2.0 would go. GA was not and had not been in the frame of mind to be a head coach for quite some time before we hired him back. Anyone who watched his presser after being hired had to know we had made a grave mistake. He had no fire, no passion, and didn't even appear all that engaged.
Of course there's no guarantee that Wells couldn't have some of these same issues but I think the chances are pretty low considering he doesn't carry the personal baggage that GA did and he is also all about being an Aggie. It means a bit more to him.
That being said, I can't see a world where DS and Wells exist in the same space. The DOJ is at USU mainly for the events that happened during Wells time (not that he had knowledge of it). There is no way DS holds up this banner of "doing the right thing" under the DOJ shield and then brings back the coach that was here during the actual incidents that are at the core of the DoJs very presence on campus.
She's looking to make a hire that gets her one step closer to leaving Logan. That is not Wells and I doubt that is Jay Hill either.
