For those on the Jay Hill train, did you watch Weber State? Those teams were unwatchable. The best way to describe them is boring as hell. The D was awesome, special teams were off the charts, but the offense was Ron McBride bad.

He is a GREAT coordinator, but be prepared for ball control, no risk offense that will make you gouge your eyes out, or fall asleep.
Does Boise have an offense that will Gouge your eyes out? Did Utah with Rising healthy and going to rose bowls? What about current byu?

All three of those play the style that I imagine Hill would bring in.

You can play a physical, ball control, power style offense and still put up points. You don’t need to pick between the two.

We have a fun flashy, finesse style and put up a lot of points. Are we having fun? Did we have fun when Weber State came into our own building. Held our fun offense to zero points? Idk about you but I didn’t have a lot of fun the last two 6-7 seasons. We had a fun style of offense. Lost to any half decent team we played.

Even In 2021, we lost to basically any and all physical teams. We lost to a bad Boise state team at home. We lost to Wyoming by a billion, at home. Sure we won the conference but if we want to be objective we probably weren’t the best team in the league. We got extremely lucky against Colorado State. Barely beat a bad UNLV team. It was a fluke hear(still very much counts) but it’s not evidence that style is sustainable.

We’ve been spending over a decade now chasing points instead of wins. I’m ready to start going after wins.

Do you know what Jay Hill does? Wins.

Oh and one last thing.

Before anyone says “oh we can’t get the same players as those schools so we can’t play that way”. Go look at our offensive line recruiting rankings. They’re very very similar or at minimum on par with Boise State. Utah, California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado can produce a lot of FBS lineman. We just need to develop them. (I think Bassett actually is).

Oh and we have the best WR in the conference in our team. And maybe the 2nd best RB on our team. We can get talent to Utah State. That excuse doesn’t work.
Brian Harsin led teams have both. Smash mouth defense and creative offensives. He's a better candidate than Hill. There's probably a half dozen other guys as well but everyone gets titillated by the local guy.
I Would love Harsin as well

I am predicting that Clay Helton is our next head coach.
What is your prediction?

Then maybe he could lead us to the playoff as a 12 seed, defeat 5 seed USC and tell them to kiss his (I can't express myself without swearing).

Georgia Southern under Helton
2022 6-7 (bowl game loss)
2023 6-7 (bowl game loss)
2024 currently 5-2 and beat James Madison and Nevada
The season before Helton for Georgia Southern
2021 3-9
Helton had a pretty good run at USC. He went 46-24 at USC.
Overall record as a HC
Helton is 63-40 with a 1-1 record in NY6 bowl games.

If I were any competent coach, I would want nothing to do with this team.

A competent Coach will build a whole new team. It has no bearing. They just need the facilities, conference and NIL and a confident Coach will know they can compete.

Scotty and Hans talk about it in the first hour

Scotty says his big board (if not Nate Dreiling) is:

Jay Hill
Bronco Mendenhall

And Hans:
Jay Hill
Aaron Roderick(yuck lol)
Bronco Mendenhall
I'm not sold on Jay but the other suggestions are just plain dumb.
Bronco is past his coaching prime and not a great fit for NIL or team discipline.

Aaron Roderick had success as an OC in 2020 when he had Zach Wilson, Tyler Algier, a top 10-15 ranked o-line, and a schedule full of G5 teams. However, other than that he has seriously underperformed with the talent he has had. He wasted Puka Nacua and made him a 5th-round pick versus getting him drafted in the top 2 rounds. We need a coach who can maximize player's talents at USU, and I don't believe A-Rod has shown he can do that. NO THANKS

I could get on board with Jay Hill, but I'll trust 22's judgment on this.

My top picks would be Ken Niumatalolo and the OC from UNLV.
He didn’t waste Puka. Puka was injured a bunch in college. That was one of the biggest contributors to his fall in the draft.

We have a DB who can’t make a tackle
Driving a Lamborghini. We have NIL

And now with Revenue sharing NIL is Less of an issue

After thinking about it, I think we need a defensive minded head coach. I don't care who exactly it is, but we need someone who can revamp the defense.

Our offense works. I wouldn't mind keeping the system we have. I wouldn't mind bringing back Cefalo as OC and Bassett as our OL Coach. (and DJ Tialavea for recruiting)

If we can keep the offense playing like they have the past 3-4 years, but couple that with a defense that resembles what we had in the Vigil bros and Fackrell days, we'll be competing for Pac-12 championships.

It feels like relying on being a better athlete than others on the field may have caught up to him.

I love that he stuck around but damn it has been tough to watch him pat the other teams player on the back as they score.

When was the last time he made a game changing play?? UConn last year??

We need a coach that has a good amount of head coaching experience. I want one focused on building a program and not cutting corners to get there.

If I were any competent coach, I would want nothing to do with this team.
A competent Coach will build a whole new team. It has no bearing. They just need the facilities, conference and NIL and a confident Coach will know they can compete.
Well we have no NIL.
We have a DB who can’t make a tackle
Driving a Lamborghini. We have NIL

And now with Revenue sharing NIL is Less of an issue
We don’t actually have anyone on the team with a Lamborghini, right?
We sure as hell do. And the dude has mailed in the season.

Everyone in my section today was talking about. “What a bad route by #6.” What is #6 doing”
Etc.

Just looks like he’s jogging around. Not effort, no care in the world.
Where are you getting this information on the Lamborghini? I live very near this player and haven’t seen anything like that.
It's on his Instagram page.
I’m just trying to fully understand, on this Instagram
post he mentions he bought this Lamborghini?
I think 22 confirmed it was his in a previous post. Whether that means it’s leased or owned I don’t think that’s clear. I know it has also been on his Snapchat story more than once

We need a coach that has a good amount of head coaching experience. I want one focused on building a program and not cutting corners to get there.
Jay Hill would be a great hire. He checks all the boxes.

Good thing about this game is it should eliminate any of the Bronco talk for head coach.

I disagree.
New Mexico is 3-4
Last year, New Mexico went 4-8.

They beat NMSU, Air Force and US and lost to a Div 2 school. We would have a similar record with their schedule. UNM was undisciplined with an awful defense. We already have that.

We saw the kind of stupid penalties some people are so confident Bronco would eliminate. And if we hired him, we wouldn't play very many teams we would be able to beat by giving up 45 points!

Is this the post?

Because few before it, it looks like there is a Bentayga with a similar post. That looks more like he is advertising a detailing service than it is his car. This car also appears to belong to one of the Pili’s who I guess owns a rental car business.

He’s posted all sorts of vehicles. The only one that seems consistent is the f-150.

The firing of head coaches has begun

The transfer portal is in play with the firing of head coaches.

Too tight with Bovee. He wouldn’t be offered and if he were he wouldn’t accept it.

Don't think so.

Technically, they lost to a 1AA (FCS) school who is 8-0 and ranked 3rd in that clsssification. Montana State would compete with dozens of FBS schools. That wasn’t a terrible loss, other than the way it happened. (Bronco had a late 2 score lead and ended up squandering it away).
