USU fans. Wanting to hire fired coaches and retreads since forever.
UNLV seems to doing well with a retread that had less success at his P5 gig than Aranda
Cool that's one. Care to list how many have failed after being fired from their p5 gig?
Mike Leach, Lane Kiffen, Ed orgeron, Hugh freeze.

Okay, most of them have Mississippi and USC ties.
Mike Leach had success everywhere. Won at Texas Tech, won at Wazzu and won at Miss State. It wasn't like he had failed somewhere and was hired back. Pretty much the same with Lane Kiffin. He was fired from USC, but he did have a respectable 28-15 record there while he was coaching with limited scholarships; then he won at FAU and now Ole Miss. . Freeze was fired from Ole Miss for off field reasons and Auburn might be having buyer's remorse about giving him a second chance in the SEC with how bad he has done so far.

I'd be very wary of hiring Aranda. 5 seasons as a HC and he'll likely be fired after his 4th losing season in 5 years. He has no track record of success as a HC.

Oregeron was HC at Ole Miss from 2005 to 2007 and was fired after going 10 and 25. He certainly never won a super bowl like aranda.

Not saying aranda should be the guy, but he is worth a call.

2020 was a weird year.
Starting in the 2023 season, there were coaching changes which continued into the 2024 season..
2021 won the Sugar Bowl, and the 2022 Baylor season was a tough schedule with some narrow losses and a rebuilding season.
23-24 seasons have been a struggle for Baylor, but it has to do with more of trying to rebuild in the today's Big 12 is really tough.

Yeah, my bad about Oregeron, forgot his Ole Miss stint. Aranda still wouldn't be one of my top choices. Yes he had one great season, but 4(likely after this one) bad seasons. People on here wanted to run Blake Anderson out of town even though 2021 was one of our best seasons in school history. There's no evidence Aranda can win somewhere consistently and many coaches have had a lightning in the bottle type season only to show their success was isolated to that one year.

People talking Orgeron?

If we hired Orgeron I would absolutely be convinced that I’m living in a simulation and this entire coach ordeal is just an elaborate troll job on my life.

Remember when Mark Helfrich really wanted the job when Blake was hired?

I wonder where we’d be if we would’ve hired him instead.

He probably doesn't coach again. He was an example of "quietly quitting" at LSU after he won the NC and no other coach was as happy to get fired and secure an 8 figure golden parachute as he was.

Has he even coached at all since his Bears stint? I'd be wary to hire him too. He did go to the national championship game, but he inherited a well oiled machine from Chip Kelly and ran it into the ground at Oregon. People joked about Ryan Day being on 3rd base for how good Ohio State was when he took over, but he is in year 6 and still has a dominant program. Helfrich's program eroded quickly. There are better options.

The advantage that Aranda has is that he coached at SUU, Hawaii, Utah State, Wisconsin, LSU, and currently Baylor.
He was part of our 2012 team.
He knows our recruiting areas while having connections with the P4 world, and the transfer portal of a quick rebuild from Baylor and other players.

Yeah, don't think we'd be in a better situation and wouldn't have a conference title.

The problem with Aranda is that he has never coached in the state that matters to the person making the decision. Ohio.

Has anyone ever said why David Aranda wanted the job here? Did he just love his experience in logan? I love the dude to death I’m just curious why he wanted to come back!

Jason Candle, and no, not because he coaches in Ohio.

Only worry is he'll get a more high profile job, but he should be the target.

Aranda would be an interesting choice. My question would be who will his offensive coordinator be?

A few names come to mind.
Yost, Brad Kragthorpe, Harsin, Nick Rolovich, Montana State's head coach, and Eck

Dave Aranda may get fired this year, so I would add him to the list of head coaches.

Dave Aranda would be my choice for a head coach. Get him a couple of high level recruiting coordinators, and I think we get a program that stays out of the news for bad reasons
I would absolutely take Amanda if he gets fired. He is still a young. How often do you see young coach's get have some sucess(dude won a sugar bowl) but not enough and fired from P5, take a step down and be super successful at a G5.

He had also been all over the place in college football. I have no doubt he could put together an incredible staff.

The guy can coach, I do worry a bit about his recruiting, but get him some recruiters on the staff.
You would take Amanda?…. Who is she? 😉. I would like Aranda though.

He has to look at Utah State as a place to rebound his career and maybe stay from the extra PAC money.

Who is she? 😉. I would like Amanda though.
Clearly I said Amanda is a he... so...

Coach Huggankiss would be a definite success.

Former North Texas, Purdue, West Virginia, and USC OC Graham Harrell just got fired from Purdue.
He was the OC for North Texas in the 2018 New Mexico Bowl.

He’ll be a great OC for Bryan Harsin with Aranda as the DC.

Remember when he interviewed for our gig that ended up going to Coach Anderson?

I would hate hiring one dude that just got fired, let alone three. Give me Candle!

Looking at these numbers, USU has $1.37 million for their next head coach, which would be second behind Washington State whose coach makes $1.5 million. I’m not sure how accurate that number is, but if correct I think Diana can make a big splash. The PAC-12 offers new candidates that wouldn’t have been available before. You market it as the chance to be the leader of the program entering this new conference and I think some high quality names will be interested.

I wouldn’t be surprised if our next head coach is making close to 2 million a year and our Staff pool is 50-100% bigger than our current staff pool.
