Jim Laub writes letter of support in SL Tribune
For Betsy Cantwell and Diana Sabau.

He said the family just made another large donation to the University.

You know what, if Jim Laub is in, I'm in. I can't remember the last time he had poor judgement in regards to the people we should employ and their character...

If someone who was on the search committee for both of the people we're talking about is on board, obviously we all should be

That's an interesting new perspective on the phrase "Follow the money" for me. For some reason, it made me think of this.

Though I’m am grateful for Jim Laub it will take more than what has been shared to turn my back on people I respect. So I plan to be slow to judge.

Re: Jim Laub writes letter of support in SL Tribune
The important snippets from the letter:
"It's time for things to change at Utah State University... For nearly a decade, stories of inappropriate behavior and lack or corrective action have tarnished the reputation of our football program and the university we all love...
As a former member of the USU Board of Trustees, and as someone who proudly served on the search committee for both the current university president and the athletic director, I can confidently tell you that they are the right people for the job and are doing exactly what we hired them to do -- right this ship and work to restore the reputation of Utah State University...
While all the facts regarding the recent employment changes in athletics aren't public, we need to be slow to judge and quick to support them in the jobs we hired them to do... President Cantwell and Athletic Director Sabau inherited a difficult situation and deserve the support of all of Aggie Nation.
As a final note, my family recently made the largest pledge to USU Athletics in Aggie history. We were proud to do so, and we look forward to continuing our support and commitments to Utah State University."

He stated changes were necessary and that the culture around athletics has been rife with scandals. He supports what the two at the top (Sabau and Cantwell) are doing to clean things up.

Good advice from Jimmy Boy:
"While all the facts regarding the recent employment changes in athletics aren’t public, we need to be slow to judge and quick to support them in the jobs we hired them to do."

I don’t see what that has to do with anything here. Re: Jim Laub writes letter of support in SL Tribune
Tying the return of GA to Mr. Laub is not accurate. I would dare say Mr. Laub has never forced the university to hire anyone.
Advise? Absolutely. Serve on committees? Of course.
John Hartwell hired GA 2.

Some of you will never end your rants, personal hatred and lack of trust with either side. Enjoy your anger and opinions.
Football starts soon and I’m excited to see the new product on the field and we have what could shake out to be a fun, competitive bball team.
Go Aggies.

I have more receipts.
But it’s pretty rich coming from the guy who is “sorry some of us wear Aggie blue” for not crying over an ear.

Wasn't enough, the DOJ is still up our asses. They just extended a year, they're not satisfied the issues are corrected. Until they are, I'd expect a zero tolerance policy. It sucks, but past issues got us here. I don't blindly trust the university by any means, but things obviously still needed to change.shoresy wrote: ↑August 9th, 2024, 3:15 pmEveryone who needed to be fired because of the issues you speak of had already been fired or was employed elsewhere before July 1.JonnyCienPesos wrote: ↑August 9th, 2024, 1:35 pmEveryone acknowledges we had serious issues. I have a daughter that is a current student, interacts with a bunch of different athletic teams in her role on campus. She tells me it's common knowledge you stay away from the football players, said that's not the case with other sports. Pretty telling and sad. That's still a problem, IMO.

That is terribly disappointing and not okay. If there are others in the program who are enabling this type of behavior then I hope they are shown the door. I hope Coach Dreiling can be a catalyst for change within the program. It needs to change much much sooner than later.Aggies1888 wrote: ↑August 9th, 2024, 3:31 pmWasn't enough, the DOJ is still up our asses. I have a daughter that is a current student, interacts with a bunch of different athletic teams in her role on campus. She tells me it's common knowledge you stay away from the football players, said that's not the case with other sports. Pretty telling and sad. That's still a problem, IMO.
