Here is Hoping

Post by pcaggie » April 29th, 2024, 12:02 pm

Based on the turnover, and the great players we have returning, the football team has as much success as the basketball team did last year! The set the example right?

I am excited to support all the players who have chosen to stay!

I know, some of you will say, Football is different than Basketball but can't a guy have hope?

W - Robert Morris Colonials Maverik Stadium, Logan, UT - Will not experience a letdown
L - USC Trojans LA Memorial Coliseum, Los Angeles, CA - might be a close game, will depend on D
W - Utah Utes Maverik Stadium, Logan, UT - Hoping Utah starts slow like they always do
W - Temple Owls Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PA - This just better happen
L - Boise State Broncos Albertsons Stadium, Boise, ID - have we ever won there?
W - UNLV Rebels Maverik Stadium, Logan, UT - Home crowd advantage and will depend on D
W - New Mexico Lobos Maverik Stadium, Logan, UT - Home crowd advantage and will depend on D
L - Wyoming Cowboys War Memorial Stadium, Laramie, WY - could win if D is any good
L - Washington State Cougars Martin Stadium, Pullman, WA - Toss up, I don't know how many have left and - could win if D is any good
W - Hawaii Rainbow Warriors Maverik Stadium, Logan, UT - could win if D is any good
W - San Diego State Aztecs Maverik Stadium, Logan, UT - could win if D is any good
W - Colorado State Rams Canvas Stadium, Fort Collins, CO - could win if D is any good

8-4 possible 9-3 (but please don't extend Anderson contract)

We win the boal game because I attend.

I agree to a point.

1. I could see a close game with the Pukes, but do not see us pulling it out in the end. Too many big draft horses and too many fast thoroughbreds.

2. I just can not see us really getting on enough of a roll to close out the season on a 3 game win streak in MWC play. I
am happy to shoot for 2 W and 1L against those MWC programs. That, alone, seems like it would be a solid finish.

I hope you’re right but it’s feeling like another 6-7 with a blowout bowl loss.

I'm guessing 6-7 again and no contract renewal for Blake Anderson.

No renewal needed, he's under contract through like 2027.

I think we'll be a better team than last year, but still get 6 wins

The biggest problem is the schedule.
Utah, USC, Washington State, Boise State (they won the MWC last season), San Diego State (new coach), New Mexico (new coach), UNLV (last season runner-up MWC), Colorado State (they have improved in every season with their current coach), and Wyoming on the road.
We skated by for 2 seasons with weak schedules, but this season is very different.

I would guess:

Toss up
Big loss
Big loss
Loss
Big loss
Loss
Win
Loss
Loss
Win
Toss up
Toss up

If everything falls USUs way, a 5 win season is the ceiling.

I suppose my 50+ years of Aggie FB Fandom will always have me optimistically hoping for 7-9 wins, plus playing in a MWC CCG, plus playing in a Bowl game.

As things continue forward with the MWC, my hope and my dream is for the MWC CCG to become even more prestigious and the MWC Bowl Tie-ins will begin to bear more fruit ($$ payouts) and media and coaches rankings.

The subject suggests that somebody is hopeful, but then y’all came in with the mega negativity. How quickly the fans go from “I Believe” to “I hope we lose every game so that our coach proves me right that he sucks”.

I hope we win every game I just don’t believe we will. I am desperate to be wrong.

Really? I thought he was under contract only through this year.

(Disclaimer: I know nothing.)
We will never again have a head coach in either of the two major sports coaching in the final year of their contract. If a coach gets to the second to last year of the end of his contract, he will either be fired or given an extension. That is the standard at FBS football schools and most mid-majors for basketball, only low majors let a coach get their final year without an extension.

Idaho and New Mexico State way back in the day let FB coaches get to their final year, but that is now a thing of the past.

Is this real because if so maybe I'll go to the temple game while I'm nearby in DC. Better not be messing with me though.
