True, but it won't be any time soon. There's a reason a lot of people are throwing money into collectives. They care.

I'm on your trajectory though. If it weren't for this site, I probably wouldn't even care about college sports anymore. I've already given up on pro sports (I still check scores but don't watch or attend).

Utah State is at least partially to blame for this mess.

USU hires Danny Sprinkle --> Raquan Battle transfers to WVU --> NCAA denies his eligibility --> Battle sues and wins --> Unlimited transfers

Does Battle transfer if Sprinkle stays at Montana State? We may never know.

Time to view every college athlete as being on a one year contract, with them being able to negotiate with other schools as a free agent after every season. Or in the case of football, they have two options for moving: winter portal and spring portal. Wild.

This may become a 2 way street though with coaches not renewing scholarships for kids that are not performing.
And NIL deals may start to include performance thresholds and incentives based on playing time.

Admittedly right now it is wild without any oversight.

did we decide that unlimited transfer and immediate eligibility is not in season stuff!!!!???? i know someone threw out there a while ago the thought of immediate eligibility could mean someone who transfers right before conference tournaments and can play in the tournaments.

Because (currently) the transfer portal isn't open mid season or mid game. Players can leave mid-season, but not enter the portal until the windows open. Unless/until a player challenges this in court and wins lol

I think it will be good for a few in bad situations or those that have proven they are ready for a bigger stage. A larger percentage will get lost in the shuffle. Spend "the best years of their life" with no real friends, relationships or home. A bunch of us from 20-80 yrs old spend way too much time, money and energy on a place we spent a couple years at because College days are unique and special.

College football and MBB is nothing more than a league operating under semi-pro rules but with professional money. In other words full bush league.
