I mean it’s true. Legas and Petras have been so far ahead of the rest in practices. The fact Hillstead is leaving is because he knows it. If he believed in himself he wouldn’t go. One things for sure you have to have a QB that believes in himself. I’m pretty happy with the QB room. Not sure what all the hate is.
Check back at the end of October and we’ll see where we’re at.

Want to revisit the QB room now?

Speaking of Hillstead, any chance he'd reconsider now that Legas is in the portal? I'm guessing no and that both players talked and both knew the other was entering portal but if I were BA I'd at least ask Hillstead if he wants to come back.

I think this is about more than just playing time/depth chart.

I'm fairly certain that BA also has a "no return" policy once a player enters the portal.

Can't make exceptions. Once you make an exception for one kid, another will expect the same treatment.

I completely agree 22. I just wondered if the Wild Wild West we are now involved in changes what coaches will do overall? I can imagine coaches who have taken a hard line might go soft and say to those they want back - we will consider taking you back until we have filled your scholarship. But again, whatever your approach is, it has be consistent. This whole environment is creating slippery slopes.

It's more of a case of a kid holding his scholarship hostage so to speak. Once a kid decides to forego his opportunity at Utah State, the coaching staff can't wait around hoping that he comes back while potentially passing on quality replacements.

Hillstead didn’t win a game for us all season. I hope he continues on that trend.

How hilarious would it be if Legas transferred to byu, and then they had to go through the biggest mid off like we did last year.

BYU’s O-lines are historically very tall. I’m not convinced Hillstead will succeed on their team and in that league but I could be wrong. He has most everything else going for him except for size.

I agree. Qualtrics University somehow always has a really good O line and if that's the case this year I do think Hillstead can thrive there. It's too bad we let USU fans Sh!t on him. Dude barely turned 18, threw for 420 yards in a game and we boo'd him off the field.

Hillstead is really talented, as shown by his success as a true freshman forced into the starting role due to injuries.

I never like Hillstead. He was overrated in my opinion. He will follow the legendary short QBs at BYU like Ty Detmer and Riley Nelson. He may do well, but I couldn't care less.

I know hope I was wrong but I have been in the Hillstead camp and think he has great upside. I can imagine him competing for the real job at BYU this year.

Didn't feel like Hillstead was a good player and if you look at his stats from last year the numbers back that up. Poor completion percentage and QBR and we should have a lot better options.
