Some defensive coordinators ARE fired over ONE game

Post by GameFAQSAggie » February 15th, 2024, 11:43 am

The 49ers fired their defensive coordinator for losing the super bowl, in spite of the fact that he got them there.

Man, getting fired for only holding Mahomes to 19 points in regulation is brutal.

I assume this was due to not getting along behind the scenes more than the product on the field.

Bingo. Just watch KS body language after he had to call the time out to get his DC to stop lining up in such an obvious pre snap prevent coverage. To have that level of frustration emerge without caring who sees it tells the story, this was about more than just the SB. That’s just the straw that broke the camels back.

Especially given it was special teams that really gave up a significant portion of those points and an injured star linebacker.

Here in Niner country everyone is in lockstep with Shanahan. How can you not be? He's a winner, but IMHO his arrogance is over the top. You have someone like that as a coach, eventually his bad mojo gets in the players heads, and they fold under pressure.

It's good to hear from outside sources. Check this article.

San Fran has greeted its Super Bowl loss with infighting, finger-pointing and petty firings.
