Dallin also attended a school down south that needs a QB and has gobs of NIL money.
We should definitely offer, though.

Yeah, I highly doubt Dallin would ever encourage anyone, let alone his brother, to go to the school down south that he started at.3rdGenAggie wrote: ↑November 27th, 2023, 6:21 pmDallin also attended a school down south that needs a QB and has gobs of NIL money.

But I don’t know that would stop that school from offering or Sam from accepting.
Brothers have played on all sides of the in-state schools.

In regards to his brother, looks like he had original offers to Washington/other nw options. Potential landing spots their if he wants to be closer to home.

One could argue that the fact that he wrote the letter in the first place shows that he does like USU and cares deeply about the university. If he didn't care for the school he would not have written it.Imakeitrain wrote: ↑November 27th, 2023, 7:56 pmThat letter was certainly a dagger.aggies22 wrote: ↑November 27th, 2023, 7:36 pmHe doesn't dig Utah State either.LarryTheAggie wrote: ↑November 27th, 2023, 7:20 pmYeah, I highly doubt Dallin would ever encourage anyone, let alone his brother, to go to the school down south that he started at.3rdGenAggie wrote: ↑November 27th, 2023, 6:21 pmDallin also attended a school down south that needs a QB and has gobs of NIL money.

Seems like he had issues with certain people around the program but not the university itself. Some of whom are still around so who knows how he currently feels with some of them gone.
I will say, when I knew Dallin 6 years ago, he was a big fan of the university.

Speaking of Dallin. The Packers cut him right after a game 2 weeks ago. First play of the game (opening kickoff) he got a holding penalty, then Immediately got ejected from the game for verbally abusing the ref. Guess the packers decided to move on.

It’s difficult for me to not like a former Aggie. Jojo Natson, Shelley, Torrey Green types come to mind.
Even guys like Vaughns I’ve been hard on but that’s not me disliking him. I feel he never tapped his potential and never fully committed (and I’m not referring to his decision to transfer from USU)
The point being that byu fans to this day are very bitter toward Leavitt. I don’t feel the same way about any of the guys that seemed to have soured for whatever reason be it Bobby Wagner or Dallin Leavitt.

Then his brother promptly committed to Utah.
Kids will go where ever. But I think Leavitt will transfer to Oregon State is my guess.

After watching our QB play this year, we could REALLY use a better one for next year. If it's not Leavitt I hope we go hard looking for a good transfer.

QB is only as good as his O-Line. Speaking as a former O-Lineman.

I don't disagree with that statement but if Cooper transfers we for sure need to get a transfer QB since we know Hillstead won't make it a full year without injury (same with Cooper as well) and you cannot put your trust in the incoming freshman to take the reins. If Cooper does return i don't know that we would need a transfer QB as Cooper showed to be super effective but think we should entertain a transfer either way. YOu can never have too many capable QB's on the team.

Re: 4* QB & brother of Dallin Leavitt is in the transfer portal
As a former OL I beg to differ. OLs hate the RPO. Having to change your whole mindset on the fly and often twice in a play as a QB makes up then changes his mind is very frustrating.
OLs are highly intelligent, but neurotic on the whole. They also give their trust grudgingly. Screwing with the QBs and calling irrational for game situation plays and series makes them angry.
This is not a particularly good line, but John L would be able to win league championships with it.
Our line play is a coaching problem.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Re: 4* QB & brother of Dallin Leavitt is in the transfer portal
As a former OL, I can agree. It is much nicer when you can latch onto your guy and drive him down the field on a run. It is also nice to be able to prepare mentally for passes and picking up the blitzes. With the RPO and zone blocking, it is highly difficult.

As a former 3rd string PeeWee DT I can say that I never pressured the QB, good OL or not. So take that how you may.

Honestly one of the dumbest comments I’ve heard all year.

As someone who never even played PeeWee ball, I can say that as I get older, I am starting to look like a bad Offensive Lineman...

As a former QB I half agree.

Yeah. Contrary to the perception of linemen as big dumb jocks, the position group that scores the highest on the NFL's Wonderlic intelligence test is offensive linemen. And yes, they tend to be a little squirly, tightly wound, and OCD.USU78 wrote: ↑November 29th, 2023, 4:05 pmAs a former OL I beg to differ. OLs hate the RPO. Having to change your whole mindset on the fly and often twice in a play as a QB makes up then changes his mind is very frustrating.

Defensive linemen are an entirely different species. Bunch of animals running on instinct, rage, and Red Bull.

Didn’t 22 say we are in fact recruiting a transfer qb quite heavily ?

Probably know we will be replacing Cooper. It seems he is transferring if you read this site. Levi is also gone and Hillstead is Glass Joe.
