Assistant Coaching Changes
I have not seen anything official about any changes within the Assistant Coaching staff. I am hoping that there are a couple of changes made. I have heard that Tucker is out, but haven't seen that through any official sources. Any other changes in the mix?

Re: Assistant Coaching Changes
There was a rumor that two coaches have been told to look for work. I get that you tell them to look for work elsewhere so they are in a better position to find work elsewhere if they can say they are choosing to leave as opposed to being fired, but there does come a point where you have to fire them. There was a report that Tucker was offered a position to coach not even all the receivers here in hopes that he would leave for either any other school that will take him as an OC, or a school that will take him as a receivers or running backs coach.

Anthony Tucker's office is EMPTY. Do I count as being an official source?

Does anyone know the story here?? Tevita has been retweeting USU football stuff the past 10 days or so, where prior to that it was all Utah football. He was also mentioned by a d line grad transfer who it seems we just offered.aggiecat wrote:I think that Tevita Finau will be named Defensive Line Coach.

Re: Assistant Coaching Changes
At the signing party someone asked Blake about staff changes. He told us that he wouldn't get specific or name names cause of contractual stuff being worked out but that we would see changes announced within the next week. FWIW, I didn't see Anthony Tucker or Micah James there which could point towards them not being around. But I also didn't see DJ Tialavea there either and he of course is one coach we don't want to lose. And FWIW, he did, while talking about one of the signings, mention Alex Devine as one of the coaches recruiting him.
He did mention that Brandon Bowling is back as a graduate assistant. Told us how kids don't become GAs until thir playing career is OVER and they have thrown in the towel to pro football.

It's spelled out here but some people wait for someone to announce it from USU "officially".
1) - Tucker is on contract for this year.
2)- he will not be the offensive coordinator and has been offered a MUCH lesser responsibility while being given the latitude to go find something else if he doesn't want to accept it.
3)- he's not happy about this and has applied to other jobs but nothing has taken yet (including the WR job at Utah). His office is empty and has been for weeks. He's not actively recruiting to USU.
4)- The hope for all involved is that he finds something else.

Re: Assistant Coaching Changes
With Tucker being on contract for this year, if he does not find another job does this mean that the OC position can't be backfilled until after this upcoming season? It sounds like if he doesn't find anything that he will not be part of the coaching staff which is for the better as it could/would just create division amongst the staff/players. That is a lot of extra work for the head coach to take on with his other duties. I am optimistic the offense will be in a better spot this upcoming season.aggies22 wrote: ↑February 2nd, 2023, 11:03 amI'll add to this. Perhaps they hire an associate Head Coach to balance managing games while Coach Anderson is focused on the offense.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑February 2nd, 2023, 11:20 amWith Tucker being on contract for this year, if he does not find another job does this mean that the OC position can't be backfilled until after this upcoming season?
