Perfect name for a scrum player: The Hell Man!
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Pikeville College gotta be sick of us swooping in and stealing their dudes.
Too many of our JC recruits this period have similar offer lists. Hope it’s just our staff being superior at scouting! Guess we’ll know soon.

Jordan Love a two star recruit had offers from places like Eastern Washington, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado and Sacramento State. His only D1 offer, USU...
Bobby Wagner, a two star recruit had only one too, USU...
I'm sure we could start a huge list of former players that would fit this list. Offers and stars are nice but don't mean a whole lot, it's about the dude behind them. I prefer to look at it that we just got out next potential Jordan or Bobby.

Like I have said many times before — I understand stars and offers aren’t the end all, be all, and I am totally fine with taking a flyer on a few of these diamonds in the rough guys.Aggie19 wrote: ↑January 22nd, 2023, 6:16 amListen, i get it, but as a reminder to folks of who we are...2004AG wrote: ↑January 21st, 2023, 11:29 pmI thought for sure he was gonna pick Black Hills State. My personal opinion is that we’ve taken too many swings on these types of dudes with the JC guys we’ve taken in this class.
If this article just said something like “USU beat out fellow G5 power Coastal Carolina for his services,” that brings a more positive connotation than just including Coastal in a list of NAIA/DII/DIII programs that also offered this guy. If it were me, I’d probably just list D1 FBS offers for recruits, or emphasize those offers. For me personally, even seeing the lower division offers kinda triggers me.
Just a thought that you can take or leave, aggies22! Thanks for your awesome work!

Re: New Offensive Line Signing
I believe the trend is that JC guys are not getting recruited as much as previously because of the transfer portal, so smaller schools have a shot at guys that previously they wouldn't.

The worst of those schools is miles above the offer list.Aggie19 wrote:Listen, i get it, but as a reminder to folks of who we are...2004AG wrote: ↑January 21st, 2023, 11:29 pmI thought for sure he was gonna pick Black Hills State. Re: New Offensive Line Signing
I would think that we have bigger needs on the d-line or d-end positions rather than the o-line. The coaches know more than me but it just seems those 2 positions are a bigger need to use our last 1-2 scholarships rather than the o-line.

Re: New Offensive Line Signing
Yep. Kind of a head scratcher if we have only very few scholarships to give out and team lost a bunch of DL.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑January 22nd, 2023, 10:29 amI would think that we have bigger needs on the d-line or d-end positions rather than the o-line. Re: New Offensive Line Signing
I wish he had offers to Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan and Florida and we had no shot whatsoever at landing him.
In all seriousness, we know a few things. First, few schools are watching JuCo's closely, thus fewer offers are going out to JuCo kids. Also, we know that the coaches don't care who has offered (or how many stars a site gave them), they do their own analysis.
If you don't trust that the coaching staff saw enough with their own analysis to extend an offer, then I understand the concern. Otherwise, I don't care all that much who else offers.
On the flip side of the consternation over who has offered our recruits lies the fact that our list of "highest rated recruits" is pretty ignominious. Not many went on to do much. (The good news there is that most are pretty recent recruits who still haven't had a chance, but among those older ones many were average or busts.)

Re: New Offensive Line Signing
So either...
1. We are really good at identifying "Diamond in the rough" guys, or
2. We only believe they are good if the big guys want them, or
3. Nobody wants to come here so these guys are all we can get....
I am not sure exactly who believes what...

Compared to that list, I think i'd be happy if Weber State, SUU, New Mexico State or Idaho wanted him.3rdGenAggie wrote: ↑January 22nd, 2023, 12:46 pmI wish he had offers to Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan and Florida and we had no shot whatsoever at landing him.

Re: New Offensive Line Signing
Another point- with all the extra COVID seasons, the D1 market has been pretty saturated for a few years. There are probably some good athletes at the JUCO level who would have played for D1 schools if all the 6+ year seniors had graduated like normal. I think the caliber of JUCO players for the next year or two will be quite a bit better than pre-2020.3rdGenAggie wrote: ↑January 22nd, 2023, 12:46 pmI wish he had offers to Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan and Florida and we had no shot whatsoever at landing him.

Re: New Offensive Line Signing
@aggies22 maybe you can shed more light on this recruit? I spent 2 yrs at NMHU and got a grad degree. Football stadium is smaller than most HS. It's not a destination school by any means.
