So, with the news that Tucker is likely not on campus anymore, that begs the question: what's the plan at OC?

I know that BA is planning on calling the plays. Will he be the full OC and HC? If so, will they be hiring another coach or just going down a man and save the AD some cash? If not, what kind of coach would they be bringing in?

Not sure what Blake's plan will be but if Blake is truly going to be calling plays it will be tough to bring in anyone with any sort of name recognition to be an OC in my opinion. If the head coach is calling plays certainly the OC would be helping design the game plan but not sure about what type of interest that role would bring. The other thing that would concern me is if Blake is calling plays that means he is taking time away from other things or putting less of a focus on them. I have faith that Blake can get it done as he has been a successful head coach but it is a little concerning for me.

When Wells was calling the plays, Ahbye would observe from 5 feet way "so many times where he would go to do something, like rally the defense, or yell at an official, or correct a player, or evaluate a play for a challenge....and then had to cut it short because the play clock was running"

I would be more excited about Matt Wells second coming in this capacity then Gary Anderson coming back which obviously didn't work out.

I know that, but the offense with Wells didn't do nonsense to the nth degree that Tucker's offense did. Heck, we have the right players to do bubble screens and short shot gun runs.

We had similar conversations about playcalling when Wells was calling the plays along with trying to also focus on game management. It was when Wells focused on game management with Yost calling the plays, along with when Wells was only the OC with GA focusing on the game management that the play calling was fine.

Year 1 I was convinced he was a great coach. After year 2 I’m not convinced he’s anything special. I think he’s benefited a lot from three great receivers maybe a fourth with Cobbs. This will really be the year where he shows whether or not he’s up to snuff.
