JMU
There's our BYU replacement for next season. Not a huge fan of having home and Homes with random east coast schools.

I like it. That is a solid game and a game I may be able to go to in Virginia.

Nice! I'm excited it's not an FCS team. That should be fun game with a new opponent.

Re: JMU
I love the matchup. James Madison is a damn good program. This will be a very tough game that the Aggies will have to play well to win. I have never been to Virginia and will enjoy going out for the return game.

Re: JMU
I don't know enough about them to know what they're losing after this season but if they were on our schedule this year they probably would have been favored by about a touchdown in Logan. They're solid.
Re: JMU
What’s so random about JMU? If you follow college football, you’d know that they are a quality team. I’m happy about it.

Re: JMU
Looking at our conference schedule it looks 9/16 will either be a bye or a game at AF. Other than AF all our conference mates are booked for 9/16.

Re: JMU
JMU is a very quality program and those games should be a lot of fun, but I'm also not a huge fan of doing a home-and-home with an east coast G5. I assume this is largely because they needed to fill a hole in next year's schedule on relatively short notice though, so I really don't have a problem with it.
Plus, there's a good chance I can make it out to this one!

Re: JMU
I am guessing that this was not the original team Hartwell had planned on signing when mentioned something 2-3 months. That being said I am glad Bovee got the job done and got a solid game scheduled.

When you're picking during last call, getting to take Mr. James Madison home is pretty lucky.

I like it. They are a peer with a solid football program. Maybe we get some attention from recruits who might not want to stay on the east coast as well.

Re: JMU
Those Duke dogs are a good team. They have a really cool campus in a true college town. They’re new to fbs so they were not eligible to play in the sun belt championship game but they would have qualified otherwise. A home and home with a sun belt team is well within our historical scheduling.
Curt Cignetti was the guy I wanted to be our coach when we hired Blake. JMU has constantly been one of the best FCS teams in the country.
No they don’t have the regional history with us like byu does. But that ship has sailed.
JMU has a lot in common with USU. I’m excited.

Re: JMU
Given the circumstances, this is a great addition to the schedule. I was fully expecting multiple home FCS games next year. Solid program even if it does not have name recognition with casual fans.
Also, even though we do not recruit there much, the Mid Atlantic region is a recruiting hotbed and it can't hurt to get some exposure there and for the fans, Virginia in the fall is a nice place to visit.
I am sure we all would prefer SMU, Houston, etc. but that just wasn't realistic on this timeframe.

With Harrisonburg a couple hours straight down I-81 from me, I'm looking forward to the game. Biggest downside is having to wait a couple of years for the game.

Purcellville or Winchester?
Purcellville used to be sick because they had (relatively) dirt cheap mansions. But that isn’t true anymore.

I am! It's been great having several opportunities to see the Aggies out here on the east coast lately. We had Wake Forest a couple times, we have UCONN next year, and the basketball team has played in DC, Maryland, Myrtle Beach, and Boston in recent years. Let's keep those trips coming!!

This news is disappointing for those of us who don’t want to piss mediocrity or be perceived as a steppingstone.
I know people who are holding off donating to the program until we get a Home and Home deal with Georgia.

Re: JMU
I felt like our fans were certainly louder than the Richmond fans when we played in my backyard. I’m sure some came up from DC but the turnout was bigger than other DC Aggie area games. I thought I was the only one in Annapolis.treesap32 wrote: ↑December 8th, 2022, 2:18 pmI am! It's been great having several opportunities to see the Aggies out here on the east coast lately. I think a part of that may have been Conor Odom having playing at Spalding and Horvath at Southern and Coach Odom having been at UMBC. Naptown is Aggie country apparently

Re: JMU
This Northern Virginia-living Aggie is quite excited about this matchup. I’ve become well aware of JMU and its success. Their campus is in a beautiful part of the state and the football complex is impressive. I almost went to the 2019 FCS semis when Weber State played JMU at JMU but things didn’t work out and I ended up not going. Anyway, looking forward to being there in 2025 cheering on the Aggies!

Re: JMU
Looks like I’m out numbered on this one. I was very underwhelmed with the announcement. I’d much rather prefer a series with a lower tier P5 somewhere near the intermountain west or at least in our recruiting grounds. I’m not sure what we gain with this series other than filling a hole in our schedule.

Re: JMU
I think all of us wanted that but scheduling that type of game last minute is super tough. There are lots of open spots 2024 and onward for the AD to hopefully fill it with some of these spots with those type of games.Slim80 wrote: ↑December 8th, 2022, 7:55 pmLooks like I’m out numbered on this one. Re: JMU
JMU finished at the top of their division in the Sun Belt this year and I predict that had they been eligible to play in the Sun Belt championship would have defeated Troy. JMU absolutely smoked Coastal who played in their stead. JMU is just an exciting team. They are a team with a chip on their shoulder and don't take crap from anyone. All year people have been doubting them because "it's just new to FBS JMU" and they've been kicking butt. That to me is an exciting team and exciting football.Slim80 wrote: ↑December 8th, 2022, 7:55 pmLooks like I’m out numbered on this one. I was very underwhelmed with the announcement. I get having a preference for a low level P5 team- we had a low quality P5 team on the schedule but they broke their commitment.

Re: JMU
My wife and I actually live in Harrisonburg and my nextdoor neighbor is a pretty important figure in the JMU athletics department. I actually knew about this being a possibility for about 2 months now but I was sworn to secrecy lol. I told him Id go out to Logan for the game and take him and his peers out to dinner at Logan's finest eatery (I'm still trying to decide what that is haha).
We'll probably be back out west by the time the Aggies visit JMU, but we will absolutely come back for the game in 2025.
I highly encourage everyone in this forum to make the trip to Harrisonburg. The Shenandoah valley is breathtaking and if you're lucky it might be an early autumn that year. It's also 2 hours from DC if you want to take some more time to visit.
Im so unbelievably stoked about this!

Re: JMU
Good under the radar home and home games
We got Iowa and UConn on the road and Idaho State and JMU at home. We should get more of these FCS that became FBS schools here in Logan and put an end to of having FCS schools to help the program in football.
