All our bowl losses since we started regularly going to bowls

Post by GameFAQSAggie » December 4th, 2022, 9:43 pm

have been to teams seeking their first bowl win in school history in Ohio, Akron and Kent State, or at least their first win in 57 years in New Mexico State. It has gone better when we face teams only a few years removed from a bowl win in Toledo(won their bowl game the previous year), Northern Illinois (2 years removed), North Texas(5 years removed) and Oregon State (8 years).
So we should be fine with Memphis NOT seeking their first bowl win in school history.

An exception to the trend was we did beat UTEP in 2014 to deny them their first bowl win in 47 years.

There's Charlotte, Louisiana-Monroe, South Alabama and UTSA we would be in trouble against in the future. And maybe Eastern Michigan at 35 years has too long of a drought that facing us would be a good recipe for ending, but if they win this year, we should be fine against them in the near future.
