College Football playoff going to 12

On a really good year USU could potentially be in the mix. Not sure about auto bids for conferences, I haven't seen the criteria for qualifying yet.

Re: College Football playoff going to 12
Rose Bowl will apparently be on of the hosts, kind of reminds me of the whole BCS mess when there wasn't a PAC-10 team in the RB, but then again the RB's PAC-12 affiliation is likely going 100% to the B1G when UCLA leaves.

Top ranked 6 Conference champions. 6 at large. In theory G5 could get multiple in some years. But most it will be the P5 plus one G5 conf champs and the at large. Unless a P5 conference splits off just for playoff access, then we’re screwed.NowhereLandAggie wrote: ↑December 1st, 2022, 12:52 pmhttps://collegefootballplayoff.com/news ... -2425.aspx.

Re: College Football playoff going to 12
So we would really benefit from significant conference expansion provided 1 of 2 things:
1. Pac12 and Big 12 get aggressive and USU gets invited to one or the other.
2. Pac12 or big 12 gets aggressive and eats the other leaving 4 power conferences.
At this point we gotta worry about the sun belt taking a bid. MW certainly didn’t deserve anything this year.

I get what you are saying, but there is not an iceberg's chance in hell there will ever be more than one G5 team in that playoff.AggieGrad2021 wrote: ↑December 1st, 2022, 2:02 pmTop ranked 6 Conference champions. 6 at large. I don't know, both TCU and Boise ended playing in a BCS bowl one year. If two G5's went undefeated, I think they could get two slots.Slim80 wrote: ↑December 1st, 2022, 5:30 pmI get what you are saying, but there is not an iceberg's chance in hell there will ever be more than one G5 team in that playoff.AggieGrad2021 wrote: ↑December 1st, 2022, 2:02 pmTop ranked 6 Conference champions. 6 at large.
