Re: John Gentry
Agree completely. Minimal talent on that roster right now.FloridaAggie13 wrote: ↑November 30th, 2022, 12:40 pmRight now, they are a below average ACC team with average ACC-type talent. They aren't loaded with talent like the U of M teams of old. Hence, we shouldn't just go grab their players simply because U of M recruited them. That's all I'm saying.2004AG wrote: ↑November 30th, 2022, 11:40 amMiami doesn’t suck because they don’t have talent though.FloridaAggie13 wrote:I'm not criticizing their recruiting classes. Keep an eye on some of these Miami transfers... Banda did recruit some of them. There's one announced today that wouldn't surprise me if we have been in contact with him.
They have both the #2 and #6 OVERALL players in the entire country.

I’d rather sign those Miami guys than guys who have zero offers out of high school.
And with the way they recruit, I’d take any that wanted to come and ask questions later.

Now, if we can poach one of Cristobal's recruits down the road, that's a different story.

Well, let’s put it this way, 247 has them the 13th most talented team in the country.Intermeddler wrote:That’s definitely why they suck honestly. The good football players aren’t athletes and the athletes aren’t good football players with few exceptions. Re: John Gentry
That’s true but they’re horribly (and sadly as a canes fan) wrong. They have other issues but they’re an average ACC team in talent and the draft last year this year and likely next will show that pretty clearly2004AG wrote: ↑November 30th, 2022, 5:15 pmWell, let’s put it this way, 247 has them the 13th most talented team in the country.Intermeddler wrote:That’s definitely why they suck honestly. Re: John Gentry
This makes me think the coaching staff played a hand in helping him find a home. Anderson loves himself some Sam Houston. Good for Gentry, I'm a big fan!

It couldn't possibly be that Gentry was a high school star in Houston.

I'm bummed about losing JG, but I can't say that I blame him.
Seemed like a great kid and I wish him all the best.

Re: John Gentry
Gentry was injured during the first of the year (August practices, and OOC games) and its really difficult when you've never been a starter to make a difference after the season started. Personally, I would have loved to have seen USU use him as a wideout/slot receiver kind of guy like Vaughn. He definitely had the speed for that. But just wasn't durable or physical enough, IMHO, as a running back.
Hope he does well at SHSU.
