This has to be the first time ever that they'll fire their coach and go to a bowl game in the same season right

UNLV truly has no excuse for being a perennial doormat.

I see several UNLV fans claiming 5-7 is not good enough AND they aren’t going to settle for a 3-5 year rebuild. From my perspective, this is the same process that landed Scott Frost in Nebraska.

Players sound unhappy.

This revolving door at UNLV is part of their problem. They finally hired a legit D1 coach and they are still not willing to let things play out. I think the great start to the season sort of blinded them to who they really are.

People on the outside think UNLV should be this power house simply for existing in Las Vegas. The same wishful thinking exists for SJSU being a great get because they are located in the #6 tv market. Truth is, no one in Vegas cares about UNLV. The few grads that stay local didn't really grow up with a culture of successful Rebel athletics and the rest are transplants that root for and support other schools. Despite what Rebel fans thought was going to happen, the addition of pro sports has only drawn more attention and dollars away from the Rebels.

They have been in constant rebuild mode for years aside from one off winning seasons. From the outside Arroy seemed like he was building a program that was starting to turn the corner and was setting up for future success. UNLV has never been consistently good in football. I would have given Arroyo at least 1 more year.

Seems like a rash decision to me. Harley believable in my opinion. This was only his second year, no?

It will be interesting in the coming weeks to see how many of the players hit the transfer portal over it. I think that will be somewhat indicative of how pissed the players are over the firing and likely slides the program backwards (again).

Third, I think. He went from 0-fer, to two wins, and now five. Had the QB not been hurt they would have likely won seven.

They were steadily improving after being a doormat for the longest time. My guess is they will backslide and the next guy will have to start from scratch again.

Dumb move.

Way to ensure a bowl loss. I'm guessing the predicted score spread on this bowl will be huge.

Be interesting to see what Cooper decides to do. He has played well, nothing earth shattering but overall has been super solid. He is in a spot where he is the #1 guy heading into next year at this point. Not sure how bitter he is with how the QB position was handled at the start of the year. If I were him I would stay knowing unless something drastic happens you will be the starting QB going into next year versus going to a new program and having to start over again.

I would think that Ike Larsen will be in the portal as well as Legas. We all need to realize that this new era of College Football is a free for all. =This is unregulated free agency we are now a feeder program for Larger more established school, it is what it is but we all need to get used to it. We can't pay what the other schools will and can.

My two cents worth, and I certainly could be wrong as I live about 2,600 miles away.

I think Banda is popular among the players as he gives them a lot of freedom while playing an attacking style of defense. With this in mind, I hope we keep a lot of the defensive players, especially Ike.

Conversely, I'm curious if Tucker is as popular as the offense seems to be stagnant and not creative at all. I defended Bonner playing longer than he probably should have, but I think it is obvious that there are players getting a lot of playing time while the more talented player is wasting away on the bench.

Not only does this drive away the better player (hello portal) but it signals to the RS freshman that he doesn't have any control over getting on the field in the future - it's a subjective decision by Tucker and BA.

That's my two cents.
