You'd be surprised (dang auto correct).AGinNEIowa wrote: ↑November 24th, 2022, 5:15 pmHow big of a bowel would that be?WasatchAggie wrote: ↑November 24th, 2022, 5:12 pmI'm selfish. I don't want a bowel that could potentially elevate Utah Tech or CSU over the Aggies. California is so vast and complex, it would be best IMHO.
@LKGates have you seen on that big?

No to St. George. Not a great stadium and not a good airport.
Another San Diego Bowl would be my pick. Then LA, San Francisco area, then Vegas. Get rid of the Potato Bowl and add one in one of those locations.

If we were to take a poll from people outside of Utah, how many would even know that St. George exists? I Utahns think that it is the holy grail but most people outside of Utah don’t even blink an eye to the name.

Potato Bowl gets such good local support that I doubt it goes awaysneed wrote:No to St. George. Not a great stadium and not a good airport.

Outsiders don’t know how to say Zion but a ton of investors and visitors the last few years. It’s grown a lot lately as a destination - I still don’t like it for a bowl game though.BioAggie wrote:If we were to take a poll from people outside of Utah, how many would even know that St. George exists? Well noted Sneed. I like St. George, yet it must have grown immensely to even be a passing topic for a bowl game. Weather yes, way better than Boise, but current lodging and infrastructure, point, set match.

The original Big West tie-in California Raisin Bowl was in Fresno and didn't draw flies. That's why it moved to Las Vegas and became the Las Vegas Bowl (and still didn't draw flies for a while).AGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑November 21st, 2022, 10:10 amWe have 3 teams from California in our footprint and only 1 bowl game there? This doesn’t make sense. Would love one in San Diego at Snap Dragon, or maybe the Bay Area somewhere (Oracle Field or SJSU), or even Fresno (Central Valley Bowl). Anyone up for a bowl in BC Place Stadium in Vancouver?
You can have all the games in Vegas you can set up, but if they don't have a name sponsor who's willing to lose a little cash for the TV exposure it's not going to work. And it can't be a casino that sponsors it. Those guys like to make/take your money, they do not like to spend it. So you need to get a non-gambling-related Vegas sponsor, most likely an airline, rental car company, or a national hotel brand. But don't expect MGM Resorts International, Harrah's, or Caesars Resorts to get involved. They make money, they don't give it away.

I have always though they should move the Boise bowl to SLC. Weather would be about the same but I feel like the area is much easier to get to if your coming from MAC country, more lodging options there's more to do with all the skiing in the immediate area, AND you don't have to watch a game on that awful blue turf.

Potential for two BG's in SD are a distinct possibility, the Holiday Bowl is currently played at Petco Park (awesome venue, but for a FB game?). The other could be played at Snapdragon stadium in Mission Valley and could be a MWC sponsored BG, I'm surprised they haven't got on that one yet.
I'm also surprised there is no "Disneyland Bowl" or something like that, as they play the state HS FB championship games at Angel Stadium, this is also another missed opportunity for a warm weather destination type of bowl game.

They should move the Holiday Bowl to Snapdragon and add another game. Football shouldn't be played in baseball stadiums.ViAggie wrote: ↑November 28th, 2022, 12:58 pmPotential for two BG's in SD are a distinct possibility, the Holiday Bowl is currently played at Petco Park (awesome venue, but for a FB game?). I agree but the way the "park" was put together it's not hard to do. I went to a concert there last summer, the place looked unrecognizable from the last time I was there for a Padres game.ProvoAggie wrote: ↑November 28th, 2022, 1:04 pmThey should move the Holiday Bowl to Snapdragon and add another game.
