Looks like more bowl bids than 6 win teams. The Aggies are bowling again.

While it would be hard to make it (I wouldn't be able to go), I'd be pushing for Hawaii. Basketball on the 22, 23, Football 24, Basketball on the 25th. Would be awesome.

Hawaii just eliminated UNLV from Bowl contention, so we will be the last bowl eligible team from the MW.

Re: Going bowling
This team has been tough to watch at times but I will give them credit. For them to be 1-4 they could have easily mailed it in but they kept grinding to go 5-1 the last 6 games. Not the season anyone thought it was going to go but I am damn proud of this staff and players for finding a way. To be bowl eligible 10 of the last 12 years is remarkable. This was a very sweet victory to watch in person.

So happy to get this 6th win. Proud of our players for never giving up! I’m content with whatever bowl we get and I’ll definitely plan on being there!

Re: Going bowling
Regardless of my opinions on the season, it is an accomplishment to become bowl eligible. They did it while also completely messing up and losing to an FCS team. They have reached the expectations I believe we should all have every season.

this is pretty close to where I stand.
when was the last time we saw anyone (let alone an Aggie) get tossed for two personal fouls?

Ball State and Miami-OH are playing each other, so of the other 14 games with 5-6 team, we need the 5-6 team to win 8 or fewer. I'm not sure if they'll try to make up NMSU-SJSU conference championship week if NMSU is 5‐6 after this weekend, or what they'd do with a 5-6 Army team that still has Navy left if Army wins their next game.

Re: Going bowling
Acting as if this site is correct (and it's flawed since I don't see UNLV listed) I looked up the odds for the games of interest:
Of the 14 teams seeking bowl eligibility this week, four are favored:
UAB (-16.5)
Louisiana (-5.5)
Buffalo (-3)
Southern Miss (-3)
Ten are underdogs:
Ga Southern (+4)
Missouri (+5.5)
Florida Atlantic (+6.5)
Miami (+6.5)
Rice (+13)
Michigan State (+17)
Vanderbilt (+17)
UTEP (+17.5)
Auburn (+26.5)
Georgia Tech (+36.5)
Based on the 8 or fewer number, from Gidbob, things look promising. 6 of the 14 teams in the competition for bowl eligibility are double-digit underdogs. That would be sufficient. Four more are are single-digit underdogs.
Since several games are against their top rival, it's reasonable to be cautions, but the early returns look favorable. Especially since the spread itself is not in play. Just the outcome matters.
Note: I acknowledge that the lines can move.

Re: Going bowling
If you were to just base this off the CBS broadcast, you’d think that USU’s bowl opportunity ended with a loss at Boise State. How many times did the announcers point out the meaningless observation that the Aggies were bowl eligible but didn’t have a specific bowl bid in hand? Of course the don’t, with two more weeks of college football to be played.

Yeah, that was just something to talk about to make a meaningless game have some sort of meaning.dogie wrote: ↑November 25th, 2022, 9:42 pmIf you were to just base this off the CBS broadcast, you’d think that USU’s bowl opportunity ended with a loss at Boise State. Never a deal until it's a deal my friend. We can hope for an invitation as we could use some more training snaps for our legions of underclassmen. A long shot is that we may even get a chance to improve our "O" line discipline and blocking skills.

Western Kentucky beat FAU in OT by 1! That’s huge as FAU was 5-6. Need a few more games to go our way today.

If NFL, NBA, NHL teams that are .500 can sneak into the playoffs, I’m ok with a 6-6 team going to a bowl game.

Re: Going bowling
i would not be opposed if they reduce the bowls down to like 30-35 and make it harder to qualify for a bowl. That being said I enjoy watching all the bowls and have enjoyed attending all the bowls i have went to so don't have a problem keeping it the way it is.

Re: Going bowling
Meh, while 6-6 is not a great season by any stretch, bowls provide for extra practices, they're fun for the players and, at least ostensibly, they provide some money to the teams playing in them.

NMSU was cleared to be bowl eligible before 5-7 teams are eligible. Their first year coach did a a heck of a job with that team. If he can stay away from health problems he will get that program in a good spot.

Agreed, especially considering SJSU should have rescheduled the game with them but refused to do it even after they were eliminated from the conference championship.ProvoAggie wrote: ↑December 1st, 2022, 11:24 amHappy to see the NCAA actually do the right thing here.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑December 1st, 2022, 11:21 amNMSU was cleared to be bowl eligible before 5-7 teams are eligible.
