I wished that we used Briggs more but no complaints about having Tyler since both are good.

Want to see both, but also want to see Briggs get more carries

Briggs is likely to be the premier back for the next three years... How many other programs are able to offer him that?gomretat wrote:One more who would love to see Briggs get more carries. I hope we keep him happy enough that he doesn't enter the portal.

Re: tyler or briggs
Are there really grumblings that Briggs is thinking about entering the transfer portal? I certainly would love to see him get more carries, but he has been a good part of the running game so far as a true freshman. With Tyler being done after this year he is poised to be the main RB going into next year.

Jordan Wilmore played some in the 2nd half against NM. Not sure if he will be the main back up if Tyler cannot go.

Re: tyler or briggs
I saw Calvin Tyler at the Hoops game on Monday. If sensitivity to light or sound is a concussion symptom, the Hoops game would have set that off.

so did he get a concussion on saturday? i never heard a definitive on what happened
Re: tyler or briggs
Calvin has cleared protocols, but they are still being very cautious with him. If he does play, I would suspect that we would see a more evenly shared load. I would love to see Calvin hit 1000 yards this year followed by Briggs hitting 1000 the next 3 years.

Re: tyler or briggs
Why is it even have to be a question with this staff? You have 2 good running backs with varying skill sets. Use them both relatively equally in accordance with the game plan! Keep them rested and ready to run. The idea that the staff needs to pick a feature back is pure BS.IdAggie wrote: ↑November 11th, 2022, 12:58 pmCalvin has cleared protocols, but they are still being very cautious with him. You know what is a real novel idea. Use them both occasionally and let the TE run a route out of play action or RPO once in a while. Too hard I guess for the kids to figure out another formation, I'm sure.

Re: tyler or briggs
Ha ha. The TE will NEVER get a sniff in this offense. They are so underutilized it isn’t even funny.
Briggs has not been given any meaningful carries in several weeks leading up to the New Mexico game. A good mix of Tyler and Briggs would have been awesome this year.
Tyler should absolutely not play this week. I know I sound like a broken record, but these kids should always sit out an extra week or two after clearing protocols.

We used to find carries for three NFL backs in the same game.

Tyler is the man! I’d love to see a healthy mix of both used though. Would love to see Briggs get a little more time.

Re: tyler or briggs
Hit the portal in January thinking he'd be picked up by a P5. Didn't happen. Ended up at Boise State after spring practice and is basically the last RB off the bench.pilotaggie wrote: ↑November 12th, 2022, 1:07 pmI haven't followed him. Had he stayed here, he'd be splitting carries with Tyler with a good chance of being the #1 back next year.

Good player took poor advice from somewhere and someone who didn't know the game. NOA was a solid back at USU and the P5 dream was smoke and mirrors. A GOOD yet not great player for us.
I thought NOA would end up playing DII ball when he didn't get quickly picked up by another G5. That had to be an ego enema extraordinaire and a message to any other AGGIE team members who were allowing the Championship and Bowl victories turn their heads.

Re: tyler or briggs
More about him. He took bad advice and by the time he showed up at BSU, it was far too late for him to make a move up the roster. I think he's a solid running back who could have been a star for us.dyedblue wrote: ↑November 12th, 2022, 3:32 pmDoes that say more about him, or about the guys in our team?FloridaAggie13 wrote: ↑November 12th, 2022, 2:29 pmHit the portal in January thinking he'd be picked up by a P5. If he didn't like the players and coaches, then I don't blame him for transferring.
But Chuckie was his position coach. Hard to imagine not liking Chuckie.

Briggs is a great back and will be even better. We are lucky to have Tyler who is easily the better back.

Re: tyler or briggs
Elelyon had BSU players(his brother and his brothers closest friends), even Smurf Turf Media Members pumping him up that he was already top tier back, and that he shouldn’t have been splitting touches with CTJ. He felt he should be a featured back somewhere and he hit the portal. I don’t know if it was him disliking anyone, just thinking he wanted to be in a system where he was the featured back. I’m pretty sure he entered the portal thinking BSU would pick him up immediately after their Back entered the portal. Frankly I am surprised the BSU back went FCS and Noa landed in FBS.brownjeans wrote: ↑November 13th, 2022, 9:33 pmIf he didn't like the players and coaches, then I don't blame him for transferring.

At the luncheon today Coach said Briggs has a shoulder injury from the game and is out this week and maybe the season. So it will be Tyler the rest of the way.

Well that sucks. Hopefully Tyler can finish strong and not get injured the last few games. I hope Briggs can get healed up and be ready to solidify him being the guy during the spring camp.
