He is one of those one-scheme coaches which is the root of offensive struggles. Our offense is talented but completely different in the sense we have WRs like Vaghun and NyNy Davis who could be used both running the ball and in the slot, we have 3 capable TEs that can get open and make plays, two running backs in Tyler and Briggs (Briggs is a very different type of running back from from Noa), and etc. Using the same plays from last season is not going to work, and we need a different playbook to max out the potential of this current team.

Remember last year when we used to swing a pass out to Tyler in the flat and let him go to work?

The swing pass requires us to not do the handoff fake though.

I noticed last game that UNLV played a lot of man defense on our receivers and they always started off by playing 10 yards off the line from Vaughns and Davis. We only threw it to them a couple times and every time it would get 5-7 yards. Instead our receivers were running 15 yard routes right into the coverage. I am no OC, but if they are going to play back on my receivers I’m calling fast, short routes until they suck up to the line and then you can beat them deep for the longer stuff… did anybody else notice this? There was even a third and 1 situation where one of them didn’t have a defender within 10 yards of them and Bonner didn’t even look their way.

When we run up to the line in a hurry up then stop to stare at the sideline for 20 Seconds to get a play in, then run it up the A Gap , IMO he doesn't know what play to call.

If you look at the actual game he called per my new topic I think that is a bit simplistic. All of those calls are RPOs which is the meat and potatos of this offense. The QB made the decision on the give. I have only gone through the 1st half but I am a lot more forgiving of Tucker right now.

He can do better with motion, TEs, and situational play calling but that is second to the QB play and team discipline.

Thanks for the analysis, I admit my Coach Klein was a bit harsh but Dayam this O is extremely hard to watch. I've often thought it must be tough to call plays when you have a QB that is wrapped from the ankles up.
Hoping to see a spark from Coop and Levi plus an added bonus of no Unsportsmanlike and personal foul Flags.

I had forgotten how the offense seemed to change with Peas running it last year- It felt for some reason we had the wrong offense a lot last year. Like Logan was running plays for Peas and vice versa. I hope that isn't the case with Coop.

My observation is the OC didn't trust his QB

Exactly. Tucker needs to game plan around establishing the QB as a constant threat to run and get out of the pocket. Only then will the Defense adjust to the threat which will open up things for the RB and the receivers.

He will be setting Legas up to fail if we just run straight drop back RPO with 4 receivers. I hope to see the outside reads with a true RB/QB run/QB throw options, a lot more of the counter option, and some bootlegs out of play action or inside RPO. We have to actually freeze the Outside backers/Nickels and safeties and then force them to commit. Once that start happening Legas can get his throw game confidence down with some open receivers.
