Uh doesn’t georgia have 4 d1 teams and thus more scholarships? But I get his point.

Re: Football in Utah
The guy is spot on. High school football in Utah is very good and produces a lot of D1 athletes in football based on its size.

Re: Football in Utah
You are missing my point. He said utah offers more d1 scholarships than the state of Georgia. That isn’t true. Georgia has 4 d1 programs. Utah has 3.
Anyways to your point. UGa does seem to fall short of expectations quite often (granted last year they did not).

I was just messing around. I have no opinion on GA football or any knowledge of that state and their football status.slcagg wrote: ↑August 17th, 2022, 8:28 pmYou are missing my point. Re: Football in Utah
So ... GA has four FBS programs and two FCS programs
And
Utah has three FBS programs and three FCS programs.
Not all that much of a difference between a single FCS and a single FBS program in terms of Division I scholy numbers.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Re: Football in Utah
Ok now we are getting technical. So still less and talent quality also less at the fcs level.
However I get the point. I just pointed out the guy was wrong in that one aspect.
I do agree with his overall point.

I think you missed the per capita part.slcagg wrote: ↑August 17th, 2022, 8:28 pmYou are missing my point. He said utah offers more d1 scholarships than the state of Georgia. That isn’t true. Georgia has 4 d1 programs. Utah has 3.

This guy says the state offers more d1 scholarships than the entire state of Georgia does. He does make the point georgia also has more people. But he says utah offers more d1 scholarships than the state of Georgia. That is not correct.

Re: Football in Utah
There are a number of guys going out of state on scholarship. It could be scholarships earned by high school players in Utah and not scholarships offered by Utah schools. Just a thought.

Hometown said what I thought but it could be worded better. Perhaps the guy meant to say:
"More scholarships are offered to Utah High School kids than to Georgia high school kids"
"More scholarships are offered to Utah High School kids than to Georgia high school kids"

Re: Football in Utah
Not sure that I buy this whole underpenetrated or unappreciated discussion. Yes, the state of Utah has 3 D1 programs that are arguably competitive nationally which is a high number relative to the population. That being said I'm not sure that I buy this idea that the talent level produced within the state is in line with this same argument. I think that U of U is the best point of analysis as they arguably get the first shot at premier in state talent. Of their roster of 115 players they have 37 that hail from Utah (32% of roster) whereas 27 players hail from CA (25% of roster). If you add players from TX you get a total of 37 from CA and TX which equals the sum total from UT. Of course CA has on order of 13 times the overall population but the state also carries 7 FBS programs and then also populates a significant amount of rosters across the western US and across the country.

Re: Football in Utah
There is no way that is accurate. Georgia has a population that is over 3 times what Utah's is.....No way more Utah kids get offered scholarships than Georgia kids. If you put in the "per capita" qualifier then I could start believing that.Coloraggie wrote: ↑August 19th, 2022, 9:08 amHometown said what I thought but it could be worded better. Hoot, I wasn't trying to rephrase what Hometown said. I was trying to take what Hometown said to rephrase what the commentator meant. Sorry for the confusion. But awesome attempt at slamming me.Hoot wrote: ↑August 19th, 2022, 9:13 am“I couldn’t have said it better myself, but I’ll try”Coloraggie wrote: ↑August 19th, 2022, 9:08 amHometown said what I thought but it could be worded better.
