Nope. I didn't miss much when I posted my post scrimmage depth chart. A little shuffling from one side of the field to the other for some of them but nothing mind-blowing. I am interested to see AJ Carter return kicks. Also, a little surprised to see Kyle Van Leeuwen dropped from the punt return depth chart.

A couple of interesting things to me:

Qb: the freshman qb from Utah county is not listed. Think he ends up at a different position at some point

TE: Broc lane not higher. I am sure that is due to injury thoufh.

Rb: looks like Jordan wilmore did not make it up the depth chart at all.

De: Enoka migao listed as the fourth d end. Not John ward.

Cb: not surprised but ajani starting

Slot: no official starter.

I was surprised to see Broc Lane as 4th on the depth chart. I know he has is still trying to return from injury, but was hoping to see him higher. Really interested to see how Carter does at CB. Excited to see Vaughn at PR, i too am surprised to not see KVL in that spot.

As Broc's strength and conditioning improve he will move up.
Jordan Wilmore is on the depth chart listed behind Bobby Briggs.
Lots of platooning between AJ Carter, Mike Anyanwu, and Andre Grayson. I'm glad to see AJ nail down a starting spot otherwise the position change is a bust. I expect Mike Anyanwu to start on the other side.
Slot you will see Kyle Van Leeuwen and Terrell Vaughn get most of the snaps there.

Has anyone heard how well Kaleo Neves has done at Striker during fall camp?

Good enough to hang on to the spot from when I was told he had the job back in July.

I wish we could put Reynolds or Dom Tatum in that role....

All told I think this has the makings of a solid team.

I don't love seeing Carter on kick off return. CB is pretty thin...not sure we need him taking extra hits at a full sprint.

Also, I'm sure they'll be recruiting CB's heavily for next year. All 4 players on the 2 deep are seniors.

The surprise is slot wr. It is before game day, and it is still basically a 3-way tie.

But only Andre Grayson and Xavion Steele are done after this season. Keith Abney is going to play cornerback and we are heavily involved with JuCo cornerback Kendel Dolby.

(Thx ‘22 and company!) I can tell you That Broc is getting stronger and healthier every day and will not be happy not atop of the depth chart!) He loves his TE group; they all get along famously. But he is very driven and PO’d to be out there ASAP helping impacting the middle of the field and make big plays......soon!!!

We use so many 10 personnel formations that we will likely see two of these guys start unofficially. I guess your "starters" as defined by the NCAA is literally who comes out on the first snap, so we could have Josh Sterzer be a "starter" and play 20% (guesstimate) of the total snaps while KVL/Davis/Vaughn see more total action.

Or AJ Carter. I know we needed help at CB but he seemed to be making plays all over the field especially late in the year. This position scares the s*** out of me.

Amen to that! I'm not sure this is a wise decision should he suffer an injury on STs, especially with him being relied on as a starter on D. We have numerous WRs and RBs...you're telling me none of them are willing or have experience at KOR?

We are so thin overall at the LB spot it's terrifying to me. With the departures of Jaymason Willingham & Kina Maile there's just not even many bodies at LB. This is by the far the thinnest I've ever seen the position at USU & it isn't even close. I really can't believe we didn't add one more body to the position before fall camp.

The entire roster of healthy players only has:

ILB:

Striker:
Kaleo Neves

There is effectively no difference between "we are going to see a lot more nickel and dime personnel" and "move AJ Carter to the striker position." Coach Anderson indicated they are doing the former, which will basically look like the latter for all intents and purposes.

For me the one big question I have for the team is how well can our D-Line/Front-7 play? Specifically, how well they are able to stop the run?

If Hale & co. can continue to play like they did in the MWC Championship and Bowl Game, I think we have a good shot of going 11-1 this year.

If they aren't able to play at that level, then 7-5 or 8-4 would be my prediction.

Agreed. One sliver of sunshine that made me feel a little better was Banda talking up Moa. He seems pretty high on him. I'm glad we reached out and got Joyce later in the game too but yeah - it could get real interesting should AJ or MJ not stay healthy.

Agreed. One sliver of sunshine that made me feel a little better was Banda talking up Moa. He seems pretty high on him. I'm glad we reached out and got Joyce later in the game too but yeah - it could get real interesting should AJ or MJ not stay healthy.
Moa's Dad was a stud, his younger brothers are studs, Sione will be a stud. The Moa family CAN play football!

ILB:
MJ Tafisi
Cole Joyce
Avery Ellis (walk-on)

ILB:
AJ Vongphachanh
Sione Moa
Max Alford

Striker:
Kaleo Neves
Omari Okeke
Lofa Fonoti-Maikui

I just assume that we going to be 4-2-5 for a lot of the time.

That's what we ran last year. So why change things now?

Nailed it! The funny thing is that there was a lot of talk about CB and RB, but looking at the depth chart, I have less concern there, especially if AJ Carter and Calvin Tyler Jr stay healthy. However at LB, we don't go comfortably 3 deep. That's concerning.

That's where I believe LB has some hope. I see our front four on the DL as the strongest ever. Thank goodness!

On coaches show last night Blake was asked about taking 2 qbs in a class. He mentioned that when they do this usually the kids or at least one of the kids has skills to play elsewhere.
