Re: Fall Camp 2022
I don't think they will move Weylin to 2nd team this early in camp even if he weren't going to start game 1. This would be detrimental to the confidence of a young player. I also believe the depth chart presented doesn't include any post spring transfers as they probably don't know the plays. So, I suspect things will change the next couple of weeks as they come up to speed.slcagg wrote: ↑August 4th, 2022, 7:41 amMotes 1st team? Again, for those who think South is moving to G, I'm so confident he won't see a single snap at G in Saturday's scrimmage that I would happily place a wager. This isn't based on insider info....this is purely based upon him missing games last year and that he was pulled early in the spring game. Seemingly, there is a lingering issue there and I will just say smart teams don't move a good T with an aggravating injury to G where the amount of contact increases. That said, I could be completely off and giving to much credit to our coaches. I suspect that Alo will get reps at C and LG. I'm hopeful that they try Dolphin at G, but from what I'm hearing on this board, it doesn't look like they are entertaining that thought. Also, I don't believe Bowles is a G (at least going into the season), but I think he (or Knapp) could be a good one.

I'm 50/50 on South taking snaps Saturday. In fact I would be more surprised if he DID. We'll also be without the services of another tackle for a couple of weeks.GrandPoubah wrote: ↑August 4th, 2022, 12:05 pmI don't think they will move Weylin to 2nd team this early in camp even if he weren't going to start game 1. I thought this article in the Deseret News had some good insight. Sounds like it’s Neves at Stryker until Okeke gets up to speed. They’re almost as high on Okeke as they are Switzer.

Why did they try and make it sound like Switzer's job was to replace Rice. They don't even play the same position. Switzer is replacing Cash Gilliam at Striker and MJ Tafisi (or AJV) will slide into Rice's ILB spot.

In Anthony Switzer, Utah State had its replacement for Justin Rice, and that is saying something.
Rice was a standout for the Aggies last season, as he was at every stop during his college career. He was the type of player that only comes around every so often, a coach on the field who effectively directs the entire defense and who sometimes then goes rogue only to make the right play time and again.
And the Aggies had found his replacement in Switzer, an Arkansas State transfer.

Re: Fall Camp 2022
My interpretation is that he was not saying Switzer was a replacement for Rice position for position, but rather that Switzer was the same type of player as Rice. The full quote from the article is this:AGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑August 5th, 2022, 3:32 pmyeah, the DesNews article. Says the following. "Justin Rice was a special player in college, whether it be at Fresno State, Arkansas State or Utah State last season.
As Banda put it, “he was one of those players that don’t come around often.”
“You lose Justin Rice who was like having a coach on the field,” Anderson said. “He broke pattern a lot to make big plays.”
The Aggies believed they had found another one of “those players” in Arkansas State transfer Anthony Switzer, but Switzer went down with a possible season-ending injury during spring camp."

Man, the end of that was really touching. He defiantly has my prayers for him and his son. I hope the coach feels his son on the sidelines this year. I absolutely love Andeson and am just heartbroken he is going through what he is. Let's all pray for him and if you don't do that let's spend a minute sending him good vibes. Blake is a lot tougher than I would be able to be considering everything he had gone through. I can only imagine the amount of pressure on his shoulders with dealing with the loss, but also the high demands of being a college football head coach. If anyone deserves to have things go his way in his personal life it would be him.Blue Sage wrote: ↑August 7th, 2022, 10:28 pmMan, the end of that was really touching.
