Top 60 for 60 bs
Last two players named:
Player A: A fullback that played at a p5 and has transferred to a g5 in Utah, over his 4 years has 24 receiving yards and 0 rushing yards
Player b: 150 career tackles as a defensive back at a p5 that has also transferred to a g5 in Utah.
Which player should be ranked higher?

Re: Top 60 for 60 bs
Here we go again.
First of all it’s not Scotty and Hans ranking!
They get a list of top players from coaches and then the media and the public got to vote. (Did any of you vote?)
The rankings are based off the votes. (I believe public votes only count for about 20%).
We have already had 3 players have their names called.
I personally like the media coverage.

Do you agree that player A should be ranked ahead of player B?Elkaggie wrote: ↑June 17th, 2022, 10:58 pmHere we go again.

Did I say anything about Scotty and Hans? No. But the voting media should be fairly criticized for poor takes. Their profession is state sports reporting and should have some knowledge. If nothing else look at stats.
I do agree no matter where our guys land I like hearing the coaches take and hearing Hans review.
Btw did you hear what coach said about gurvan?

a 5 star recruit that has 24 receiving yards and 0 rushing yards in 4 years. He must be a hell of a blocker.

Hemuli at byu transferred from Stanford and gurvan hall.
Btw listen to Blake’s comments on gurvan in his 60 of 60 segment. High praise.

Y'all forget that Lakei Heimuli was on the '84 all God team that the lemmings still worship. This kid could have zero athletic ability and he'd still make the list. Honestly, surprised he's not higher, we should be glad his last name isn't Kaufusi. This isn't new news.

I hope the coaches are right about Hall and his change of scenery does him good but he was truly awful at Miami. Worst safety I’ve watched there in awhile so the skepticism and his ranking doesn’t bother me (though the 60 for 60 thing isn’t worth caring about regardless).

Re: Top 60 for 60 bs
The entire 60 for 60 is illegitimate BS as long as fan vote counts for any part of it and especially this year where the ballot for fans was pre ranked with all BYU people at the top of the rankings (because it was alphabetical by school). So all the Cougar Clowns had to do was load the page and click submit and they’d fulfilled their duty.
They should remove the fan component.

Re: Top 60 for 60 bs
I actually think he will be good for us. He is an elite athlete. He was pretty good as a freshman but regressed a lot the last couple years. I think reuniting with Banda and getting a fresh start with less pressure (guys knew they were sort of playing for Diaz to keep his job last year) will be good. Saban wanted him so much out of high school he arranged to fly to his high school from the airport in a helicopter and landed it on the football field during their practice to recruit him and he knows defensive back play better than anyone so he could certainly materialize, but he was just really bad as a football player the last couple years so I hope people have realistic expectations.slcagg wrote: ↑June 18th, 2022, 11:56 amBooo!Intermeddler wrote: ↑June 18th, 2022, 11:31 amI hope the coaches are right about Hall and his change of scenery does him good but he was truly awful at Miami. I was about to suggest the same. ....and there will be 3 more threads asking for a re-ranking to happen after the season. It finally happened last year and the preseason rankings proved to be hilariously inaccurate.ratofallaggies wrote: ↑June 18th, 2022, 9:37 amJust pull up the same thread about the 60 in 60 from previous years, Change the names, and you’ll have the exact same thread that is started here….
My bet is they are again. Accuracy and research seem to take a back seat to those involved in putting it together every year so we should just nod and laugh.

Re: Top 60 for 60 bs
I think for the most part the amount of players we have had in the preseason rankings have been accurate. What would people expect last year after the 2020 debacle. Going into this year i guess we will have ~15 in the top 60 which is probably about right where we belong. These preseason rankings are fun to discuss and get excited/upset over, but at the end of the day they are meaningless.

Hey 22, question for you. I haven’t seen how it works. Is there a predetermined list of players that each coach submits and then the media and fans put them in an order or is it completely open where you can vote on any name that’s on the roster?aggies22 wrote:I voted.Elkaggie wrote: ↑June 17th, 2022, 10:58 pmHere we go again.

Re: Top 60 for 60 bs
The coach from each school is told to submit his top X players. Blake was told to submit his top 10 players, while BYU and Utah each get to submit 20 or so. So the whole thing is just way to get listeners for advertisers. The fan vote, heavily skewed toward the Wasatch Front for obvious reasons (you can barely hear 1280 in Logan, 97.5 not at all), only counts as 20% of the final preseason ranking.
