Re: Elelyon Noa to transfer
Totally bummed about this one. His announcement to USU on Good Morning San Diego was freaking awesome.
Let's go Aggies baby!

Oh well, we have good depth at this position and guys like Gentry and Makakona will step up.
I have to think that SDSU will throw their hat in the mix here.

So that leaves us with:
(1) Tyler;
(2) Gentry;
(3) Makakona;
(4) Briggs
Right? If Tyler can stay healthy, I think we’re fine. Best position group we could have asked for to surprisingly lose a player from.

Makakona isn’t and shouldn’t be a main back on a MW championship level team.Sl7vk wrote:Totally bummed about this one. His announcement to USU on Good Morning San Diego was freaking awesome.

Re: Elelyon Noa to transfer
Honestly, only losing one major contributor to the portal would be less than many, if not most schools.
Edit: I guess two, I forgot about Jackson. At any rate, I'd bet losing 2 starters to the portal is average or below for most G5 schools.

Elelyon Noa to transfer
Any chance Chuckie can convince fellow Houston native Trelon Smith (Arkansas transfer) to join his position group?
Perhaps Trelon is out of reach but I’d think someone like Bobby Cole would be happy to jump from New Mexico to USU. He’d fill a similar role as he has been for the Lobos and what Noa did last season for us. A tough yardage guy but still has some shiftiness.
Speaking of tough yardage backs, Van Buren from Boise is in the portal. Not a big play threat but a load to bring down at 6’ 240 lbs

It’s a good idea but I don’t think we have the scholarship availability at this time.AGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑January 27th, 2022, 3:48 pmAny chance Chuckie can convince fellow Houston native Trelon Smith (Arkansas transfer) to join his position group?

Re: Elelyon Noa to transfer
You can enter the TP and still remain at school, just can't participate with the team. So why now? Why not after the BG? Seems like his stock would have been higher back then.

Re: Elelyon Noa to transfer
Agreed that the timing appears a bit odd, especially if a player immediately loses the benefits of the scholarship upon entering the portal. (I have no idea if that is the case or not.) In any event, playing the portal is always a huge risk. Based on 247sports, since Dec. 1 there are 87 RBs who have entered the portal and only 39 have landed somewhere.
Assuming there is a scholarship still available, is there any chance Noa would be welcomed back by the coaching staff?

Re: Elelyon Noa to transfer
I would hope so, but we really don't know the full story, there maybe more to this, again I find the timing odd, most of the peeps who enter the TP do so immediately after their season ends and/or after (or in some cases before) their bowl game.bwcrc wrote: ↑January 27th, 2022, 7:19 pmAgreed that the timing appears a bit odd, especially if a player immediately loses the benefits of the scholarship upon entering the portal. As for losing the scholarship, I don't think they can yank your scholarship mid season and just kick you off campus for entering the TP. I think they have to let you finish it out since they've already paid for your tuition.

Re: Elelyon Noa to transfer
Honestly, there isn't any scholarship space available. But IF he were to choose to return, I'm sure the coaching staff would welcome him back. His Twitter release sure seemed like he's closed the door on Utah State however.bwcrc wrote: ↑January 27th, 2022, 7:19 pmAgreed that the timing appears a bit odd, especially if a player immediately loses the benefits of the scholarship upon entering the portal. Re: Elelyon Noa to transfer
If he goes there he’s made a really bad decision.
I think his situation in Logan was really hard to beat. Sharing time with Tyler Jr behind an offensive line that is only going to get better.
Gentry must be licking his chops.

I think he either goes P5 or home to San Diego State. Zeke only has one year left at Boise.

I’m not sure playing time would be easier at SDSU either. Not sure if the Bell bros are still there but they always seem to have amazing backs.

Re: Elelyon Noa to transfer
It's almost like the case with Elijah Shelton. Everyone was baffled by him going to Utah, where he, not surprisingly, did not even see one single garbage time snap, being buried too far down the depth chart even to see the field in the games that went lopsided enough for Utah to do the "empty the bench" thing.
Elelyion could at least probably make it to a P5 school and be high enough on the depth chart for the garbage time snaps.
