Re: gator bowl updates
They don't qualify, is he willing to pick up the costs of the logistics? I'm guessing that Illinois probably doesn't have the nec. apparatus in place to do it either.
EDIT - yea I was wrong, looks like Ill wants it bad: https://www.espn.com/college-football/s ... ources-say

Re: gator bowl updates
Well I would love to see this happen for my own selfish reasons and I know a lot of players are tweeting about it, I think it would be really disruptive for the holiday plans for the coaches and their families and many many of our players and their families. If it were to happen I would support it 100% and would love to see the game, but part of me almost hopes it doesn't happen because I want the players and coaches and their families to be able to just enjoy a well-earned rest over the holidays. That said it happens I'm going to find a way to be there because I'll be out of my own covid isolation by then.

Re: gator bowl updates
I was going to say, I think we'll see more of these, it wouldn't surprise me to see the Rose Bowl get canceled. Like I said in my earlier thread, so happy we had an early bowl game because of covid cancelations.

Re: gator bowl updates
I'm giving this a very low probability, as far as USU participating. Vegas odds would be about 500:1.
It would be a good game to get some Florida recruits to, though.

Re: gator bowl updates
So it is the teams that are backing out due to Covid and not the venues/cities where the games are played, right? The teams just have too many individual players that have tested positive or the school's don't want to send the teams to these venues because they fear Covid spread is likely at the venues and they want to protect their players?

Re: gator bowl updates
There's absolutely no downside for us playing this game. More money, crazy amount of exposure and intrigue for the program (both locally and nationally), DT topping the receiving chart, Sarver getting one more crack at kickoff return glory, more success recruiting in Florida, guys improving NFL draft stock, being the first to play (and potentially win) two bowl games in a season, beating another P5 opponent, a sunny vacation for the team, byu looking more like chumps, etc, etc.

Re: gator bowl updates
Considering those were the odds we had at winning the MWC this year, I like them

Re: gator bowl updates
We would need a waiver from the NCAA, apparently the y was approached last year about playing in two bowl games (ultimately they decided not to) and that was the NCAA's take.

There is also wording which is positioning which is already established for 5-7 teams.
