Storming the Field
I know this is a long shot but go along with me here. What if we were to beat Boise or byu and our fans storm the field. Does anybody else see the possibility for things to go extremely wrong with the visiting team right in front of the student body? I'm thinking we could make espn again Mussleman's wife could send out some more tweets. I know, I know, we have to win those games first but it was just something that crossed my mind and made me wonder.

Re: Storming the Field
I think we should act like we expect and know how to win big games and not storm the field against either of those two teams.
Against a top 10 team in a bowl game? Storm away.

Something will probably happen that causes the sidelines to be switched back.

Re: Storming the Field
aggie fans need passion
storming the field is an act of passion
storm the field. storm the field because we won. because we beat the worst team. storm the field because we beat the best team. storm the field because it's tuesday. maybe we'll breed and engender more passion and bring more fans out. normally i'd say not to do it except for particularly meaningful wins, but... we can't bring 20K of our own fans to the stadium. the ones that do show up are a treasure to the program.

Re: Storming the Field
Obviously it’s a big IF they can win, those games are going to be really tough…
But if so, go on ahead. Those are the kinds of things that turn casual fans into die hards. It’s fun, kids love it, players love it, and a win against either of those teams would be enormous. Some of my favorite college memories were rushing the field after games, and no, I didn’t care at all whether some fans thought we should have acted like we’ve been there before.

I could care less what they do if the Aggies win.

As long as we don't do it for beating an FCS team! Ineptimusprime cheers for enough teams that do that already.

Re: Storming the Field
In my mind having 5000+ kids jumping onto the field from the stands while the losing team is trying to leave creates the possibility for some problems. If I was in charge I would aim several high def cameras at that area and let the students as well as the visiting team know that every action will be caught on film. That way we don't end up with a debacle similar to the one after beating Nevada in the Spectrum several years ago.
Of course, we have to win first.

Re: Storming the Field
If we beat BYU they will probably be a top 15 team. Plus they are an in state rival. In that case I think storming the field would be appropriate haha.

Re: Storming the Field
Seems true enough that storming the field after a big AGGIE win could lead to confrontations with the visiting team and staff.
Some years ago the team from Provo won in our stadium and then did a victory lap around our stadium. This was bush league, low budget and an indictment of their strutting mentality. That image has not been removed from my memory, so I would trust our AGGIE faithful would behave with class.

Re: Storming the Field
I'm less worried about what the students would do to the BYU players and more worried about what the BYU players would do to our students. Cameras would exonerate our students and may lead to a BYU player being suspended for the first series against the next FCS team they play!YouEssYou wrote: ↑September 19th, 2021, 11:49 amIn my mind having 5000+ kids jumping onto the field from the stands while the losing team is trying to leave creates the possibility for some problems. Re: Storming the Field
In general storming the field creates memories for students and students with good memories and experiences may be more likely to attend more games as students and come back as alumni.
On the other hand, sometimes we wind up needing a new fire extinguisher.
Also let's be careful not to jinx anything. Bad form to be planning celebrations before we win anything.

My 10 year old (at the time) son will never forget seeing the goal posts come down after the 93 win over the Zoobs. Still wish I had bought a piece of that goal post they were selling.

Re: Storming the Field
I have come to the point where I don't care if people storm the field or not. Storming the field means you have won. It also creates memories. I say, let them do what they feel like doing. Our school should have a plan to keep everyone safe, but have fun people.

Re: Storming the Field
Storming the field as a student last time we beat Boise was probably the most anticlimactic experience of my life. I stormed the field, yeld "GO Aggies" then I looked around and thought "now what...?" And left.
Fun game though!

Re: Storming the Field
At Clemson we have taken to the field for as long as I can remember, win or lose. It’s just a tradition. In all that time there has never been an issue with the visiting team. Maybe because they just already know we do it.
