Yeah.
Perhaps they didn’t get the memo that we changed Andersen(son)s.

This is what I love about college football. This is why it's such a shame that conferences are falling apart, and with them the rivalries. I hope we trash Air Force, then troll the crap out of them!

Re: Air Force Twitter firing shots
A joke my father, a 20-something year Army vet, told me once:
Four men, one from each of the military branches, are sitting at a table eating lunch. Someone enters and says "sorry, but it appears that a scorpion has been found in one of your tents. What should we do about it?"
The soldier responds: "Just stamp it out"
The marine responds: "Cut it in half with a bayonet"
The sailor responds: "Drown it"
The airman responds: "Call room service and ask them why there is a tent in my room"

It's great if they sleepwalk into the game thinking they just have to show up this year after beating us last year.
One coach I could only imagine something like that not going over well with would be Nick Saban, how he would react to media living in the past causing his players to lose focus.

Wow what a story. They beat a fcs team and a lousy navy team by 20 and will now roll over the aggies based on that?. Please hit the ejection seat for Calhoun and the zoomies this weekend. I truly think the Ags will represent and win if the don’t turn the ball over. Can’t give them easy plays.

Re: Air Force Twitter firing shots
This Aggie defense is fully capable of shutting Air Force down. This game is so much about execution. Air Force is so good at using your speed against you. If you try to guess instead of sticking to your assignment then you'll get caught out of position. We're going to find out a lot about how disciplined our Aggies are. In the first couple of games I thought that was one of the reasons for our struggles. The Aggies need to clean that up before week 3.

Re: Air Force Twitter firing shots
Good point. Much of our early game issues against UND were due to our over aggressiveness. It looked like they had watched how aggressive we were versus WSU with our DL coming after the QB from all over the place and watched how easily that was used against us in the screen game. UND came right out and let us come after them while they dumped short passes over the top of us for easy gains. It was so frustrating to watch the same thing happen over and over. Our players kept thinking they were on the cusp of getting a sack or TFL but UND was laughing the whole time as we played right into their hands.AggieFBObsession wrote: ↑September 16th, 2021, 4:27 amThis Aggie defense is fully capable of shutting Air Force down. After the first quarter it looked like our coaches figured things out and decided to go with the approach of keeping everything in front of us and it worked out much better. We did a better job of defending the screens and keeping containment on the QB. If you have the better athletes and deeper team , this strategy should pay off in the end.

I'm sure this annoys the AF football team as the person who wrote the tweet won't have to back it up. He/she won't suit up. They simply write the check and the team is supposed to cash it.

Never cared much for "bulletin board material". If you need that to win a game, then you're weak minded. And, if you don't like that they're saying those types of things.... then don't lose like that last year.

Re: Air Force Twitter firing shots
I'm not buying the AF hype. I know you can't use so and so beat so and so by so many points, who beat so and so by so many points as a good predictor of a match-up, but I'm going to do it anyway. Let's take a look at the Zoomies two wins.
In week 1 AF beat Lafayette by 21 points (35-14), who then gets beat by 21 points last week by FCS pier William & Mary (24-3). W&M held Lafayette to 3 points! The supposed vaunted AF D let Lafayette throw for 250 yards and 14 points. AF did hold Lafayette to 43 yards rushing. Impressive right? Well W&M held them to 32 yards rushing! This W&M team must be good then right? Well they actually got thrashed by Virginia 43-0 in week 1. Lafayette is just downright bad.
In week 2 AF beat rival Navy by 20 points (23-3). Nice rivalry win for AF right? Well Navy got beat down 49-7 the previous week by Marshall. That's a 42 point margin of victory. Ok, so Marshall may actually be good. They did beat North Carolina Central State in week 1 by 34 points, though that is a closer score than their Navy game. Navy is just downright bad.
Perhaps the Aggies week 1 and 2 opponents may not be stellar, but they certainly are much much better than AF's two wins. It'll sure be a tough game as it always is at Colorado Springs, but I feel pretty good about our chances to silence the Flyboys.

Re: Air Force Twitter firing shots
I'm pretty sure people sincerely believing that birds are government surveillance drones is just as real a thing as flat earthers, unfortunately... but I think there's so few of them that most of the talk about birds not being real is satirical.ViAggie wrote: ↑September 16th, 2021, 10:08 amI've always thought it was meant to be silly, kind of mocking people who believe in wild far fetched conspiracy theories. I don't buy the AFA hype this year, either, they're not what they used to be. I'm also still not sold on us being capable of beating them, but maybe I'm just being overly cautious and pessimistic.AGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑September 16th, 2021, 10:51 amI'm not buying the AF hype. I just have no idea how we're going to do against the option but at the same time we've got the speed, and we've got a coaching staff who can get the guys to be focused, disciplined, and make necessary adjustments throughout the game.

I’m only pointing out that using this as a reason for why Air Force is bad is moot. Our defense has struggled easily in the first two games. If they do this against Air Force also then it will be tough to overcome simply because of their play style.
