Report of the luncheon

Post by GameFAQSAggie » November 8th, 2010, 1:31 pm

Here's a report of today's luncheon:

1. He talked about wanting to develop young kids by having scrimmages throughout the week.
2. He told us that if Levi Koskan doesn't define hard work and toughness, he doesn't know who does. It's hard for a tightend to beat him.
3. He called out Zach Fisher for saying we only had 2 sacks, when we really had 3.
4. On Kerwin's first return, it was all him, not the other ten guys.
5. On Kerwin's second return, we got a crease inside. Maxim did a good job blocking with his helmet off.
6. A reverse play that got us a big gain was a close call.
7. We adjusted the option formation a few times.
8. Moats made a play where he was contested. It wasn't PI cause it wasn't called.
9. On that last touchdown, we played team football and executed right.
10. Chris Harris made a play that wasn't drawn up on the board.
11. Pete did a good job punting, coverage was good.
12. He next showed highlight of the young kids. He showed us Hart throwing a nice pass to Shaan Johnson, a nice catch Keegan made, and an interception Vigil had.
13. New Mexico State was a great win. We showed character to come from behind 14 down. We din't execute at the start.
14. The defense needs to play 4 quarters, not the 3 they played Saturday. The first was a debacle.
15. We gave up 127 rushing yards in the first quarter, 27 after that. The kids and coaches did a good job adjusting.
16. The offense did just enough, nothing great.
17. The turning point was holding them to a field goal after the interception.
18. We don't have to play great in any of the three areas(offense, defense, special teams) to win, but we can't play poorly in any one either.
19. Losing Kellen was a factor, but he is one guy, not eleven.
20. 4.4 yards rushing per play isn't great, but isn't poor either.
21. Our issue was third downs. We were lucky to win going 3-13 on third downs.
22. Kellen is probably out for the year
23. Walter is hurt buy will hopefully play.
24. We took knees at the end thinking it would get down to four seconds, but it only got down to 8. On that last play, he tells them to hold them to run the clock down since they want to go home and will not call it.
25. San Jose State, like us, is fighting hard.
26. Our young secondary against them will be a challenge.
27. He doesn't know why Diondre was unsettled last week. He expects him to play well this week.

:golfclap:

Much better than throwing the backups under the bus by showing edited film to the boosters of just their mistakes in order to save your own ***. That had to be the worst coaching decision I think I've ever heard of. I'm glad I wasn't at that luncheon. :nono:

For those of you who aren't familiar with the situation I am describing, it was under the previous coaching staff.

Ol' Brent Guy decided to show us footage of one of our young quarterbacks throwing a terrible pass to illustrate the reasoning for having his boy Leon start. It was in bad taste.

I remember hearing about that. I was on the team and played for both dennehy and guy that's why I was intrigued about refreshing my memory. BTW it was bad taste so was a lot of the things he did.

With Bartlett out for the final 3 games with the elbow injury, that means the top TE, the top two RBs, and the top two WRs are absent from a struggling offense . . .

That's the bad news.

The good news?

Robert Marshall at the wing or back in the FB slot.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Yeah, I'd definitely like to see Marshall get more touches. That boy is a load.

Wouldn'tcha love to see him running the wildcat in short-yardage situations? There was a play Saturday vs. the NewMags where he knocked one guy on his kiester and dragged 2-3 others for about 4 yards. Brought a tear to my eye.

With Kellon gone, again I ask? Why the hell so many injuries? It is more than bad luck folks!
