What I saw was tentative receivers because they had no idea where the ball placement will be. I don't remember a ton of drops. I saw our talented freshman te drop a couple over the middle that I bet he never does again in his career and watching his routes that was my thought. Not an approach excuse to drop passes but it affects confidence and route concentration when you have a scattergun armed QB.

I didn't say it was an excuse. That should be the standard. I'm just saying a qb that innaccurate is going to ultimately exacerbate the drop issue even when he is on target. It really doesn't matter. Shelley was just not a QB or a an athlete or leader who could make up for that at this level, and thankfully he and the coach who thought he was are long gone.
