Similar to the basketball thread, what's your all time favorite Aggie football play? (Again, not necessarily biggest or most important, just your personal favorite). Mine is easy; Bobby Wagner one handed interception. It was one of those moments where it didn't seem real or even possible.
I think folks are usually referring to one against LaTech when this is brought up, but I keep remembering one in the Kibbie Dome.
Don't recall the kibbie dome one; definitely referring to the la tech one.

If you can mentally separate it from the rest of the season, the Shelley to Thompkins Hail Mary was pretty cool

Also, another play that was cool if you can separate it from the rest of the season was the AJ safety against Nevada.

1972 that spring I had graduated from Sky View. In the fall I was excited to see the great Tony Adams and the Forzani brothers run down Tony’s passes. A beautiful Cache Valley day and we were playing a good Southern Mississippi University team they had an All-American kicker by the name of Ray Guy! Guy did the punting and the field goal duties. It was a good close game. Southern Miss. was up by 6. Guy had just kicked a Romney stadium record field goal of 64 yards. Our defense had pinned them at the goal line. They had to punt with 7 seconds left in the game. Guy was back to punt in the back of his end zone. We brought the house. A Cedar City kid last name Chidister blocked the punt, we fell on the ball in the end zone to win by 1 point. I sat high on the last row on the West side. It was my choice as not many came to the games back then. It was the only win with no time on the clock that I have ever been to as an Aggie fan!
A sleety day in Cache Valley. What a hard-fought game. USM had a all-universe punter and an amazing defense which, together with the lousy conditions, shut Touchdown Tony right down. Earlier in the week Jess Cone, the line coach, talked about the upcoming game as a Civil-War, Grey vs Blue, brother vs brother war. Boy did he call it right.

Of us frosh, only Longuevan and Smoke McCloud dressed and played in that game (as I recall), and I sat in the stands with my dad. What a delicious defensive war, and what an astonishing ending. Who could have known something like that would decide the game?
I was also at that game. I think that he had a record breaking 78-80 yard punt in addition to the record yard field goal. But I can't verify. :headscratch: I met Ray Guy at a golf tournament and spoke to him a couple of times. Totally class guy. Real southern charm. We talked Raiders stuff. I was star struck and didn't think to mention the Aggies. I later heard a great story that an Aggie FB player told me about meting Guy. He said he told Guy that he was part of the special teams unit that blocked his punt. Without hesitation, Guy barked out "You F-ers were offsides!" The memory still fresh and painful 40+ years later. :scotsman:

Probably my favorite USU memory is the USU V SJSU game in San Jose that ended tied 48-48. It was just incredible to see all that scoring. Plus, Jim Otto, the greatest Raider of all time was there sitting a few rows in front of me. I got to shake his hand and talk to him at halftime. Another truly great guy, humble, spoke to me like an old friend. Otto's son played for the Aggies at the time.

 :notworthy:  That has got to be the best "meet your hero" story I've ever heard. Thanks for sharing it.

Can't remember the record for a punt, but I do remember Mickey Doyle getting off a 72 yarder that season. Can't remember which game.

Don't know if we have video but in 1993 being able to hear the ribs of BYU Receiver Eric Drage break from the stands was pretty good. Also, same game USU safety Michael Coe laid out a few players. Calvillo limped off the field late in the game then came back in and ran for a TD.

1991 homecoming game against 25 ranked Trent Dilfer led Fresno State Bulldogs. Last second field goal to beat them 20 to 19. First win over a top 25 team. So cold but worth it. Roger Grant had a good game running the ball

I'll always remember Eric Drage's ribs popping. Sounded like a gunshot. Everyone in the stadium heard it.
