One of the strongest positions on the team.

Thought your comments about gentry and where he is at in our conference was interesting.

My guess is that we are going to rely on our RBs a lot this year.

Better than relying on the punter

Hopefully we have a strong enough oline to support them.

I'm certainly worried about injuries on the O-line this year.

I want to be excited for this group like some of you are. I have high hopes for them, but what have we seen that leads us to believe this is the deepest group of running backs ever? A decade ago we had Turbin, Smith, Kerwynn, DeMartino, Joe Hill and Robert Marshall in the room. I’d love for this group to be better than that one, but I need help believing.

Well for one, they are probably faster. Some of those guys were SLOW.

Kerwynn was the only slow one :)

I agree with Busta. I think we have lots of talent at the rb spot, and we could very well look back in later years and crown them the best, but not much past production/experience to lead us to believe they will be world beaters yet. I certainly wouldn't put them up with that group Busta mentioned. Maybe DeMartino and Marshall weren't speed demons, though Joey D was still effective, but Smith/Kerwynn/Hill/Turbo all had plenty of speed and 3 of the four made NFL rosters. I still vividly recall Turbo busting off that 96 yard TD run at Rice-Eccles and not one of the defensive backs from the Utes could chase him down.....and Turbo was probably only the 4th fastest out of that group.

This review holds promise for the set of backs we have on the roster. Backfield speed and talent are highlighted by help from the linemen clearing the way. Successful line play typically produces a winner.

Always enjoy the preseason position reviews by AGGIES22.
Such a treat as he delivers reality without the blather.
