Most re-watchable Aggie games of last decade

Post by stang » July 18th, 2021, 2:14 pm

I’ve got the itch for some Aggie football pretty bad right now. With the season still several weeks away, I’m planning to re-watch some of the top games from the past 10 years or so to fill the void. There are a few obvious ones that will definitely make the list, but what are some of your favorite games from the past decade to re-watch?

Hawaii 2011 - the game that started the turn around.

Chuckie goes down with spinal stinger and is at the hospital, Adam Kennedy comes in and somehow leads us to victory. It was the first game in a long, long time that went our way against the odds.

Also, the 2014 and 2018 victories at BYU. Just fun games we were supposed to lose but won handily.

2015 vs Boise. That felt like watching an Aggie playing a video game matchup of the two teams.

SDSU 2019

A game we easily won despite nearly giving it away at the end. Defense was on point overall

BYU 2014 and Utah 2012 go down as two of the best for me. There’s just something about beating those schools. Hans Olsen ate some serious crow on the BYU 2014 outcome but he owned it.

How about the entire 2018 season (Love’s Sophomore season). That was a magical year and a great ride despite the close losses to MSU and Boise.

I believe we were favored in 2018, or at least it was close to a pickem game. It was a very fun game though going down there and destroying them and basically ending Mangum's college career.

2014 was awesome because nobody predicted us to win and byu fans were acting like they were going to the playoff and Taysom Hill would win the Heisman, blah blah blah. That all ended that night.

I know you're trolling us, and I wouldn't actually want to rewatch that game, but going to the game was one of my best Aggie fan experiences. First and only bowl game I've been able to go to. Great crowd of Aggies, both red and blue. The "Go Aggies" chant across the stadium was epic. And of course I came in my blue suit. Probably the most involved with the crowd I've ever been. So much energy! The loss stinks, of course, but every other part of that trip was an experience for me.

Yep, that 2014 game has to be tops for me. Undefeated Coogs (after just beating Texas), Heisman talk for Taysom, National Championship trophy in the house, and the long anticipated celebration of the return of the prodigal son McMahon. It really could not have been a bigger night for BYU at home on their own turf and ready to showcase and show off all their splendor...LMAO.

It ended with those all those #9 jerseys walking out in disgust and all the post game radio call-in shows lined up with callers wondering what they just witnessed.

I love re-watching that game, with all the BYU hype and the National Championship trophy on display on the sidelines. The Aggies came in to Provo and owned that place far more than the 35-20 final score indicated.

we are talking a lot about the fan overhyping the game, just watch the BYU announcers. that was one of the best parts, watching them eat crow big time in the post game interviews. they didn't know what to say!

It wasn’t just the TV announcer. I was at the stadium that day and they were going all out to point out the recent record of 25-3 since the 80’s they had vs USU and how USU had not won in Provo in over 30 years. In addition to Nick Vigil, I give Troutputz some credit for the way they played that day. It made up for the 2011 game, which almost made me want to never go to an Aggie game in Provo again.

2013 Poinsettia Bowl against Northern Illinois. That was a really good win. Man, that defense!
