Taking Stock
In 2007, USU's 3rd WAC season, the Ags went 2-10 under Guy's 2nd to last season after winning just one in 2006. The pivotal game, at home against a very beatable San Jose team, told the story of USU impotence in the pre-GA1 WAC era.
USU is nursing a 20-16 lead after picking off a San Jose pass on their own 25 yard line with 2:25 to go. USU on its previous possession had, mostly on the ground, going 94 yards to take the lead after a scoreless 3rd quarter. Speight had his breakout game against the Spartans, who had preserved 3 timeouts.
USU rushes the ball 3 times. 3 timeouts. No first downs. Just 5 yards, and San Jose goes down the field with the 2:01 left and scores with just under a minute left. Short high kick (to avoid K-Rob who'd had a very nice night on KOs) is dropped by the up guys. San Jose recovers.
Impotence. Poor execution. Poor coaching. Mediocre crowd. 20-23.
2020 doesn't bother me much. I'm pretty bullish on a 6-6 year in 2021.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I only truly became an Aggie fan during the Brent Guy years. Almost nothing phases me anymore.

I'm right there with you. Really set the expectations low.BigBlueDart wrote: ↑July 12th, 2021, 4:20 pmI only truly became an Aggie fan during the Brent Guy years. Almost nothing phases me anymore.
This post is likely straight up poor sarcasm and cannot be taken seriously.

Re: Taking Stock
How many games were lost with muffed punts or off-side kick fails? Some key games were lost on a single play.

Re: Taking Stock
That game was brutal. The 2009 SJSU game is one of my best memories though. Great comeback win. My sports crazy son was only 2 and he sat without complaining through the snow and cold of the first half just watching the game. He did complain once, at halftime. The teams went in and the band came out and he started yelling "where football go!". He was ticked. Loves going to games to this day. Great memory.

Re: Taking Stock
I was ready to leave that game early, there was a dude next to us yelling "WAKE UP AGGIES" in a low I.Q.ish way. I am glad that I stayed.GeoAg wrote: ↑July 13th, 2021, 10:09 amThat game was brutal. Re: Taking Stock
I was brought up as an Aggie Fan in The Brent Guy Years as well. I was no expert in the field of sports at the age of 10, but even I was able to guess offensive playcalling with scary accuracy. It felt like my little league football team had more intricacy and options to play off of than the mid 2000s aggies. (Spoiler alert: you could guess QB run left or right with Diondre Borel every time because it was 80% of the offensive scheme) You know it was bad when he was our only offensive weapon as our QB.... as well as our punter.....BigBlueDart wrote: ↑July 12th, 2021, 4:20 pmI only truly became an Aggie fan during the Brent Guy years. That being said, I truly think that 2021 will be a great turnaround year. I see a very real possibility of 6-6. Whatever chemicals we used to shoot our football program in the head last year I truly hope to avoid. Its been said a thousand times but I'll say it again but GA 2.0 was possibly the worst decision we could have done to our football program.
