Did more research….his Twitter claims he’s an Aggie. Signed with Boston College 6 months ago. Looks like a good pickup.

3 P5 offers and one of our top 5 all time recruits on 247. Plus a CB that is 6 feet. A lot to like with this guy. Looks like a great pick up

Bojay is the only one that has done anything of significance on that "all time" list though isn't he?

I must admit, from the outside looking in I am shocked we keep bringing in more cornerbacks/DBs and not offensive lineman or Stryker/LB type guys.BustaMcNutt wrote: ↑July 12th, 2021, 10:10 pmDid more research….his Twitter claims he’s an Aggie. Take talent where you can. But agreed on the oline. We are thin there and is my greatest concern for 2021 success. Can we add some our oline commits a year early?Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑July 12th, 2021, 11:09 pmI must admit, from the outside looking in I am shocked we keep bringing in more cornerbacks/DBs and not offensive lineman or Stryker/LB type guys.BustaMcNutt wrote: ↑July 12th, 2021, 10:10 pmDid more research….his Twitter claims he’s an Aggie. Re: Updated Roster
You have to think they are trying to get offensive linemen who would be upgrades over who we have returning. But they aren't going to bring in offensive linemen with only one year left who would struggle to beat out our returners just to bring in offensive linemen.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑July 12th, 2021, 11:09 pmI must admit, from the outside looking in I am shocked we keep bringing in more cornerbacks/DBs and not offensive lineman or Stryker/LB type guys.BustaMcNutt wrote: ↑July 12th, 2021, 10:10 pmDid more research….his Twitter claims he’s an Aggie. Part of it could be the fact that you don't really rotate offensive linemen an and out the way you do defensive players.

Re: Updated Roster
We have decent experience with 6 guys on the roster that have started D1 games...Alo, Aliifua, South, Edwards, White, and Knight. I am looking forward to seeing contributions from Dolphin, Motes and Owens. The guys across the board have gotten bigger where they needed to get bigger and gotten smaller where they needed to. This is new. Under GA, this wasn't happening and is a key indicator of OL development IMO. Examples are Alo going from 330 last year to 300 this year and Wade Meacham going from 290 to 310. I feel pretty good about it and think we will have decent depth. Next year we lose 4 and have 4 coming in so I think the numbers are good on the OL. I think we'll be much improved there. I know firsthand how much of a difference coaching can make in that position group.
For stryker, we have 1 position. we have 4 guys listed at OLB (which is stryker). I think we are a little light here as you want at least 4 scholie payers and I think we have 2 or 3. I also think we have some big safeties that can come over and play here like Tatum, Reynolds, or Carter. Not ideal, but we'll be ok. If there was one position of need I would put it here and we've had guys show up the last two days that could play here. That said, we need a huge year from Cash Gilliam.

Remember that time gary made our highest rated recruit in a long time move as a short middle linebacker to defensive tackle. That was great.

Re: Updated Roster
The experience along the offensive line is fine. What worries me is the lack of depth. With five positions across the line we SHOULD have AT LEAST three scholarship dudes at each spot and we do not. That concerns me, big time.GeoAg wrote: ↑July 13th, 2021, 10:05 amWe have decent experience with 6 guys on the roster that have started D1 games...Alo, Aliifua, South, Edwards, White, and Knight. Your concerns at striker valid. Beyond Gilliam there is no proven experience. Patrick Maddox had a good spring but that's about it.

Re: Updated Roster
Given what we have coming in and what we are losing for next year, it doesn't look like they expect to carry that number of scholie OLs. Do you know what plans the staff has? Looks like we need about 3 more OL to get to the level you are thinking and we won't have that next year either unless we bring in more than we already have committed.aggies22 wrote: ↑July 13th, 2021, 10:34 amThe experience along the offensive line is fine. 3 position changes I can think off the top of my head that never made sense to anyone and were also failures from a playing time/productivity standpoint.slcagg wrote: ↑July 13th, 2021, 10:29 amaggies22 wrote: ↑July 13th, 2021, 10:21 amThey flipped Mo Uasike from defense to offense and Mo was not pleased.BigBlueDart wrote: ↑July 13th, 2021, 9:39 amDidn't GA and company move some guys from OL to DL? Mo Uasike from DL to OL
Logan Lee from DE to TE
Christian Lavalle from LB to DT (this position change is actually what led to him transferring to Texas Tech)

I've shared this before in other threads, but with where the conversation is I figured I'd post my updated visual 3-deep depth-chart I have that's a best guess based off watching spring practice and reports/depth charts aggies22 has given. (Again, I feel like we have to bring in a few more guys for depth on the OL.)

How do scholarships work with transfers out? When a guy transfers out does that mean it opens a spot in our recruiting numbers or no? Re: Updated Roster
It does not change how many we can sign. We are still nearing our 2022 limit of 25 schollies. At this point any scholarship player that leaves opens up space in our unusually small 2023 class.slcagg wrote: ↑July 15th, 2021, 6:32 amHow do scholarships work with transfers out? Re: Updated Roster
The job that the staff was given is a complete rebuild of the team. That's because Gary Andersen basically sabotaged the program in every way.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑July 13th, 2021, 12:14 pmI've shared this before in other threads, but with where the conversation is I figured I'd post my updated visual 3-deep depth-chart I have that's a best guess based off watching spring practice and reports/depth charts aggies22 has given. (Again, I feel like we have to bring in a few more guys for depth on the OL.)
It's clear to me that this staff has made a commitment to fix the defense first. You can win if you hold your opponents to fewer than 30ppg. There's depth there and plenty of talent to compete at the highest level in the MWC. Maybe an issue at Stryker but that is basically the nickle position anyway. We have enough depth at safety and linebacker to fill a gap.
The offense is another story. The staff brought in players that could compete now at a couple of key positions, not the least of which is QB. That was the biggest priority to get us through 2021. Because of the scholarship limitations we couldn't fix this team in an instant. You also have to adapt based on who you can recruit. Rome wasn't built in a day. I fully expect this staff to recruit more for the future on offense. We already have seen that with the OL.

Re: Updated Roster
The only thing I'm curious about is having 5 senior WRs and we have none committed and don't appear to be recruiting them very hard.AggieFBObsession wrote: ↑July 18th, 2021, 8:16 amThe job that the staff was given is a complete rebuild of the team.
