Re: Recruiting news
Thia commitment speaks volumes about the ground that the new coaching staff has gained in the state of Utah. They just pulled a kid out of a high school that saw the last coaching staff cast aside a former player and his brother transferred shortly following the season. With an entire year under their belt, 2023 could get crazy.

"According to Hansen’s Twitter account, Utah State was the first Division I program to offer him a scholarship back in February." (https://www.deseret.com/2021/7/5/225639 ... asi-hansen)
I think this staff's strategy of recruiting their targets early is paying off.

Recruiting news
Even with us beating out BYU and many MW schools for Hansen, the DesNews had to again point out that many of USU’s 2022 recruiting class are players with no (or few) other FBS offers. I think it’s funny since if you look through BYU-P’s 2022 class, they have a lot of single offer commits too or beating out only the likes of UNLV, Hawaii, Nevada, or a similar MW school. I think the Moeaki kid is their only one they beat out a P5 for (Utah).

Re: Recruiting news
With all the early commits and all the offers out there, who gets cut from the scholarship offer list?
For example, does this mean that we cannot take Jacob Reece or any of the other OL we have offered?
It’s a good problem to have, but with all these offers still out there, now what????

Re: Recruiting news
Yes, there are still lots of offers out there but as guys commit they take up the spots that were open. Once a spot is committed to it's a done deal unless someone recommit. Our 2022 signing class is nearly full and I'm sure the coaching staff knows EXACTLY who they want to fill them.GrandPoubah wrote: ↑July 5th, 2021, 2:47 pmWith all the early commits and all the offers out there, who gets cut from the scholarship offer list?

I believe this staff has a clearly defined strategy in what positions they are recruiting to, and what kind of kid they want and will go after for each position. I have no concerns about whether a kid has offers...I just want them to get here, get coached up, and win games. Go Aggies!

Re: Recruiting news
So, according to 247 we have 15 commits for 2022. Also, 247 is missing 3 others, so we have 18 total (Thanks, Busta!).
OL - 5 (Aloisio, Radford, Reece, Lapuaho, Kauasi Hansen)
RB - 1(Briggs)
QB - 1 (Davenport)
S - 2 (Alofipo, Vaenuku)
CB - 2 (Moore, Solomon)
LB - 3 (Fonoti-Maikui, Lotulelei, Williams)
DL- 2 (Jackson, Tomczyk)
ATH - 2 (Kao Hansen, Tuatagaloa)
What positions will the final spots go to? Are we looking for any WRs or TEs? Or are either of the ATHs going to be playing WR or TE?
Edit to include those that Busta mentioned.

Re: Recruiting news
This is crazy. And I suspect it will be similar for 3 -4 more years. One of the side effects of covid and everyone getting a year back. It added a full years worth of players and talent into the system but the NCAA gave schools no way to handle it. You still only get 25 a year and 85 total. It has been very interesting to see how schools are dealing with this.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑July 8th, 2021, 8:25 amIt's crazy how many players are still in the portal and how much talent is just sitting there. I believe you will see us take another defensive lineman for sure MAYBE two. Maybe another offensive lineman as well. Other than Chas Nimrod, I don't think any WRs are real high on our priority list. I also think you'll see Chase Tuatagaloa play TE.3rdGenAggie wrote: ↑July 8th, 2021, 8:45 amSo, according to 247 we have 15 commits for 2022. Also, Kauasi Hansen isn't on 247 yet, so 16 total.
