Any chance we get commitments from any receivers? Or are any of the “athletes” going to be wideouts?
I'm thinking that we'll pull a couple of transfer portal guys eventually.
It's pretty crazy to see that it's predicted UNLV will commit the top-rated QB in the transfer portal, Tate Martell. He grew up in Vegas, so that recruit makes sense, but a nice job to an MWC team. Would have been nice to see Puka Nacua join Cooper Orem-alumnus Legas at USU.

Tate Martell's college career has been an absolute mess. I feel bad for him and for his sake I hope he succeeds at UNLV but I'd put my money on him being mediocre at best.

As I have mentioned in various threads about Banda, I am a Miami fan so I have followed Martell the last couple of years. Mediocre at best is absolutely right. Miami had a mess of an offense in 2019 (got shutout by La Tech in their bowl) and had major QB issues and he couldn't see the field all year. He got one series in the bowl game and it was comically bad. He might be better with a change of scenery, etc. but he was one of those prospects that makes you wonder how so many coaches could whiff in their evaluation.

A kid can have all the physical tools in the world but if you can't hack it mentally it's going to be a long road. This kid had the easy road everywhere growing up. He never had to fight for his job, he just played wherever it was handed to him. The moment he stepped on a college campus and had to perform to earn playing time he folded.

Puka and Samson transferred because their Dad asked/told them to.

I can't feel bad for him even a bit after seeing him in QB1 on Netflix in high school.

If he where to commit, I believe he is a mission kid. We have our sights set on a couple of higher rated guys for out last few spots.

@aggies22 why is he not rated? Also, had a couple of Ivy League offers, so he must have done alright in the classroom as well. Love it. Looks like a great pickup.

I don’t get it. The kid is ripped, he ran an 11 second 100 meter dash his junior year, he’s 6’3”, the coaches obviously see talent since they offered, and yet we’re his only FBS offer?! What gives?

I really have no idea. Now that I am no longer affiliated with 247sports the Aggies will no longer be getting any coverage from the regional guys. I've heard a cool new website is picking things up though. ;)

I don't think the high school he attends is very big.

His school might be small but Cedar Hill is basically Dallas. I would compare it to Centerville.. Yeah it isn't actually SLC... But pretty much the same thing.

I think 22 was referring to that the hs is a small private school.

I'm confident that the lack of camps due to COVID, truncated HS football seasons, an extra year of eligibility for all and free transfers for many current college athletes has caused a lot of talented HS kids to go overlooked. I trust our staff is doing their due diligence to scoop some of them up.
