New qb
Prospect.
And I would not be surprised if he is committed very soon.

I wouldn’t be surprised either, especially considering that we’re his only D1 FBS offer.

Re: New qb
Bishop is likely the most underrated QB in Texas right now. His resume:
- Two-year starter (including this upcoming season) for a 6A contender
- District champ in a district that includes Spring Dekaney and Spring Westfield (two elite teams)
- 2020 Regional Semifinalist in 6A-D1 (the most competitive division in Texas and likely America), that's 3 playoff wins
- 3,400 passing yards, 680 rushing yards, 43 total touchdowns, and a 36-3 TD-INT ratio in his one year as starter
- Great size, speed, and arm strength
So why do we have a shot at him?
He has a strange throwing motion and he likely was underrecruited as a junior because teams couldn't get him on campus to see him work. If you are the praying type, it would be a good idea to ask whatever higher power you believe in that we develop a strong relationship with him and we get an early commitment that makes bigger programs look elsewhere. Bishop could be an absolute steal.

We do have pretty good luck with Texas QB's. But arguably, the best come from CaliYoungBloodAggie wrote: ↑June 22nd, 2021, 5:25 pmBishop is likely the most underrated QB in Texas right now. His resume:

Seriously though, looks good. It will be interesting to see if he starts to pick up anymore FBS offers.

Re: New qb
Yep. Not saying he won’t be good, but the common denominator of most of our recruits is that we seem to be competing with FCS schools and only FCS schools. Maybe they will good, put this is definitely something to put a pin in and come back to in a few years.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑June 22nd, 2021, 4:48 pmI wouldn’t be surprised either, especially considering that we’re his only D1 FBS offer.

Re: New qb
Some sweet highlights and seems to be a gamer. Question. He does have a bit of a low sling it release to his passes but he’s been very successful with that delivery. May be prone to getting passes batted down but it is a strong and quick motion and obviously very accurate based on his stats. If we land this kid and you are Coach Anderson and Tucker, do you work on fixing his motion to make it more conventional over the top but run the risk of messing things up, or do you leave it alone?

Re: New qb
I like this young guy. His motion is compact, and he generates good zip and distance. He's a tremendous athlete so I beleive he certainly is coachable. As far as recruiting, I don't have any issue with his having FCS offers...Wentz, Rothlesberger, Garappalo, that one dude who played for the Ravens (duh?), recently Trey Lance, etc. Some really good QBs play in the FCS level and do well at the higher levels. This kid looks like a great opportunity for the Aggies.
As I've proven time and time again, I really don't know what I'm talking about. So I only ever speak for myself!

Re: New qb
I've noticed this on several Tweets. Is it pretty typical to have recruits dress up in full uniform, helmet, gloves and the whole bit when they come for visits? That seems, I don't know, a little silly. I can understand giving them a hat and sweatshirt to pose for a photo, but putting on a whole uniform - helmet and everything - seems strange. Maybe the kids like to play dress up and they are all into it, I don't know? I figure they know what it is like to put on a uniform. Who am I to judge, I guess. Whatever it takes to lure in recruits, I guess. I just don't get it.

Re: New qb
Social media absolutely matters now. Having them pose in a full uniform with a good social media team helps. For comparison, look at the pics when he visited New Mexico.Yossarian wrote: ↑June 24th, 2021, 1:30 pmI've noticed this on several Tweets. Presumptuous and ill-informed.

Yeah, and one of the best linebackers in NFL history on the Seahawks. We’ve had a lot of good diamonds in the rough. But what we haven’t done in recent memory is sign virtually an entire class full of kids with no other D1 offers.UStateTim wrote: ↑June 25th, 2021, 4:16 pmThere’s a qb on the Green Bay Packers who only had one FBS offerRoy McAvoy wrote: ↑June 22nd, 2021, 4:48 pmI wouldn’t be surprised either, especially considering that we’re his only D1 FBS offer.
The criticism isn’t in taking chances on a kid or two with no other D1 offers. It’s not even a criticism of any individual kid we’ve got committed. The criticism is in filling virtually an entire recruiting class with kids with no other D1 offers so early in the game.
With this and the religion on blast, I have some concerns about the judgment of this staff. I understand that’s not a popular opinion around here, but whatever. I hope to eat delicious crow, and will be cheering for the staff’s and each of these kids’ success, but I am not sharing in the optimism that a lot of you are feeling about our football program.

Re: New qb
That’s a valid concern. I think the staff has done a good job of filling instant needs with transfers while supplementing with high school kids that will sit and develop for a year or two. I would be a lot more concerned if it wasn’t the year after COVID. I do think some kids are falling through the cracks that otherwise might not have any other year.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑June 25th, 2021, 7:53 pmYeah, and one of the best linebackers in NFL history on the Seahawks. But also, every other D1 school still has to make offers and fill a roster notwithstanding COVID. Are you suggesting that these particular guys fell through the cracks and would have been scouted and offered by D1 programs but for COVID’s impact? Because D1 schools are still out evaluating and offering, and it is terrifying to me we are the only school offering basically every guy in our class save one or two.
