Also, hats off to the SEC commissioner for seeing his position of four teams was unpopular and caving.

Good for Thompson. As much crap as he gets (much of it well-deserved), I'm impressed with him for being productive and influential with this movement.
I didn't read any mention about Aresco or his efforts to champion this idea. Ironic considering his conference would likely benefit more frequently than the Mountain West if the proposed format comes to fruition. I wonder how much he was doing behind the scenes or if he's been too busy reviewing and approving more ridiculous 'P6' propaganda.

Gotta hand it to him on a few key situations. When SDSU and BSU left, he worked on an invite for USU. Biggest long term success for athletics in decades. Though the Boise contract to get them back was flawed, he did manage to put the conference back together.
Working on this and getting it through was also huge. For over a century college presidents have been so against playoffs, it is nothing short of a minor miracle. I would take him any day over a lot of other commissioners.

I certainly wouldn't consider myself a fan of Hair Thompson, but conference commissioner seems to be one of those jobs where nobody is ever really happy with you.

Hair Thompson saved his conference from near certain death when the WAC made its power play.
He deserves some of the criticism he gets, but he also does a lot of good for his conference.

We could have Larry Scott as commissioner...Aggie19 wrote: ↑June 19th, 2021, 3:02 pmHmm, wonder why the pac 12 is so nervous?

That would be a major step down from Thompson. Commissioners can only promote and work on behalf of the schools they have, and Scott had a lot more tools in the box than Thompson. Yet no P5 league has underachieved or fallen as far behind as the PAC-12 in the last decade. Bad business decisions, poor management, and terrible marketing have contributed. No wonder he wants an auto-bid, some years the PAC-12 may not get into it without it.
I hope they just keep the 6 highest rated Champs, and 6 at large.

Not to mention helped our program a great deal. If we weren't in the MW, we'd be in serious trouble.Mr. Sneelock wrote: ↑June 17th, 2021, 1:56 pmHair Thompson saved his conference from near certain death when the WAC made its power play.

Also, this new system is bad for byu. A good day in my book.
