I’m predicting 1 Aggie in the top 10, 3 Cougars, and 6 Utes.
Who will be the top ranked Aggie?

I know this list is usually pretty far off because no Utah media members outside of Cache Valley pay any attention to USU, but this year I think it's going to be hard to do much complaining.

I wish Scotty G would attend a USU game or two. It might give a Utah media member outside of Cache Valley some insight about our team. :joking:

Yeah that’s who I would pick as well. Will be interesting to see how they factor in the transfer players. I’d think Bonner and maybe Mayberry should be in there somewhere and I know a few of the others will be big contributors, such as Vaughns , but most haven’t proven themselves anywhere yet. DT, Heninger, Moore, Edwards, Terrell, AJ, Bond should all end up on the list I’d think.

Let me re-phrase. No media members outside of Cache Valley who vote in this poll pay any attention to USU.

I don't think we can complain this year. We're hyped because we're fans, but looking from the outside, I think 10 total players on this list would be generous.

I also think by the end of the season we'll have more on the top 60 in the state, but we'll have to earn that.

I agree but even after really solid years and poor years from say BYU we very under-represented. Either way I don't take much stock in what DJ and PK vote but rather find it interesting the names the coaches provide for the ranking.

Below is my list of top 25 guys on the roster from a previous post. Some of your responses changed my mind on the rankings. I've listed where I think they should be ranked.

1. Justin rice. Former preseason mw defensive player of the year. - Top 10 guy for sure in the state.
2. Shaq bond: all conference safety - Top 20
3. Deven thompkins: electric - Top 15
4. Alfred edwards: all conference oline dude - Top 25
5. AJV: big time linebacker Top 15
6. Jordan Nathan: stud receiver Top 30
7. Carson Terrell: hoping we use the te this year Top 30
8. Byron Vaughans: all reports are that he could be a all conference kid this year. Texas transfer. I think by end of year top 25.
9. Brandon bowling: Arkansas state wr transfer Top 40
10. Savon scarver: Too low? Top 45...the state voters will vote Savon higher because of the All American note to his name
11. Kevin meizenheimer: our linebacker depth is awesome this year. Top 60
12. Demytrick aliifua: veteran oline dude. All reports say he has moved down the depth chart?
13. Nick heninger: back to the more natural position Top 25...have him way to low in this list
14. Logan bonner: starting qb. Top 40 by EOY
15. Marcus Moore: playing inside dline could do well. Top 50
16. Justin McGriff: if he brings effort he could really turn into a all conference receiver. Top 50. Can he turn up his intenisty?
17. Broc lane: showed a lot of promise last year Top 60
18. Falepule alo: also showed a lot of promise last year. Top 60
19. DHC: really runningback becomes the number 1 option. Could also put 3-4 other running backs here such as Calvin Tyler, noa, gentry. Top 60. But per 22, I think the starting back is Gentry and it sounds like he could be top 30 by end of year.
20. Hale motu: can he be a starter on the inside This year?
21. Quazzel white: starter at tcu. Did I list him too low?
22. Patrick Joyner: maybe too low as well. Miami transfer with a ton of upside. Could get in top 35 by EOY
23. Cash Gilliam: will start at the striker position.
24. Cam lampkin: cb. Top 60 is fair.
25. Jackson Owens: prior staff raved about his potential

Honorable mention:
Zahodri jackson (Top 60), Kyle Mayberry (Former part time starter in the big 12, should def be in the top 60), jahaziel white (Former part time starter in the AAC, same as Mayberry), Ajani Carter, Andre Grayson, Dom Tatum, elynon noa, Kina maile, Phil Paea (Should push into the list by EOY), Calvin Tyler, John gentry (as mentioned above could push up the charts alot this year), Andrew Peasley (top 60), cooper Legas, Jacob south

Of course I do, I’m a fan. 😁. Of course not. But I do think some of these dudes have a justification on being on there. I think we get 10-12 on the list for this year.

So how frequently do they do the 60 in 60. I was assuming every weekday between now and season start but I only see Lampkin and McGriff on their website. How do you find out who is #58, #57, #56.......? Are they just delinquent in posting them?

Not sure how frequently they update, but here's the link for the spot on their site:

Here is how stupid this poll is.

BYU db who had 6 tackles last year and around 30 in a 3 year career is ranked one behind Brandon bowling who had 500 + yards receiving and 7 tds last year.

Don't they have fans vote on them then speak to the coaches who have some ability to remove and add players? I thought there was a fan vote component.

Also, I didn't know Brandon Bowling was so tall. The 60 in 60 site linked above has him listed at 5'19".

That still puts him 4 inches shorter than the BYU DB (Mandell) who is listed at 6'11". Will be fun to see a 5'19" WR go against a 6'11" DB!

He is certainly up there, but there is one more Aggie who is at least top 5.
Breaker Mendenhall.

Well if the Deseret News were doing this list, they would take under consideration the fact that BM (come on guys, leave “BM” alone…it’s the kids initials) is the son of a Cougar coach, and is automatically ranked up there on the list.

I think Deven Thompkins will be the top Aggie. He may not be the top guy BUT in lists like this offense often trumps defense because it's more exciting.
