Doug Robinson on Jordan Love

Post by Slim80 » June 4th, 2021, 8:15 pm

Mr Robinson is at it again with another despicable article. This time it is pointed directly at Jordan Love and his lack of playing time in Green Bay. I’m not posting the link to the article because I don’t want it to get the views but I bring this up because I want to make sure everyone knows what a low class reporter Doug Robinson is. His vitriol towards USU is shameful and I wish somehow we could call him out on his trash. The D-News definitely has a d-hole in Doug.

I don't really want to go look for the article, but be honest: is it one of those things that you kind of have to have an inferiority complex and a preconceived negative opinion of Doug Robinson to be this upset about it? We have some thin skin around here sometimes.

I’ll go 70/30 on this one Snee. I can’t stand Doug and fell for reading his trash again and am positive my previous disdain for him played a role in my elevated frustration of this new crap piece he put out. I just don’t get why he constantly comes at anything USU from such a negative direction.

I feel like USU as an institution should blackball DesNews interviews until they clean it up. We can’t kick them out of the press room, but we can ensure other papers and outlets get scoops and interviews.
It’s not just Robinson. DesNews has a pattern of this. They had another former Aggie reporter a few years ago, that I was well acquainted with. Life unfortunately hit him hard across the face. (We weren’t friends, but we had quite a few mutual friends - iirc he worked at the grill in the marketplace too)

I hope Coach A and Odom ignore Doug’s hand.

It would be so boss

Coach A: anymore questions?
Doug ** frantically raises hand**
Coach A: anybody? Ok thank you all for coming out!

Who’s Doug Robinson? Never heard of him. Must not be a good journalist.

Yeah Doug Robinson should just be ignored at this point. No reason to get worked up over his columns.

Funny, I was just listening to a Green Bay reporter while driving this afternoon and he was very complimentary of Love and said his off-season so far has been "perfect for him". Just caught the tail end of the discussion but that's what he said.

Bad idea, it never ends well.

REAL Salt Lake tried to do that with Gordon Monson, and the SL Trib threatened to stop covering the team. MLS overturned it in less than 48 hours.

Larry Scott tried to pay the press cover more of the PAC-12 and was excoriated.

Not to throw a wet blanket on the party but.....Robinson has stated that after covering thousands of sporting events in his 40 year career, at the top of his list was being sent to cover the byu golf team in 1980 but watching an Aggie steal the show.

That Aggie was from St. George, and played on the PGA tour for a few years.

And if I remember correctly, is now a huge byu fan.

One positive statement doesn’t outweigh the many dozens of negative takes. He’s a tool who sucks as a reporter for the Aggies.

He isn't a reporter, he is a columnist. He is paid to give his opinion, and he doesn't cover just USU.

Feel free to disagree, but I read it. I can't say that there was anything false in the story. I hope Jordan Love does have a good career, just like any upstanding USU Alumnus.
However, his grade right now is incomplete just due to a lack of film on him.
